Just started working an outage. This means at least 12 hour days. Because it's shift work, my car pool is broken up for the duration. So, to get a couple extra hours back for down time and rest, I'm using my pop-up camper.

I used my knife to cut some para cord in order to make a phone cradle. Now, I can stream a little Magnum P.I. on Netflix and watch the phone above my head..... Hands free!

I wish I could post a pic, but the phone is my camera and TV. This will have to do !

Keep a weather eye out this week. I hear there may be some wicked storm systems passing through that area. I think I'd pass on spending a strong storm in a popup.

Today... My orange Skyline assisted me in opening a tinkerball doll for my daughter in a walmart parking lot.

My daughter and I cleared some vegetation from the back yard today. Mostly vines and saplings, a few dying trees, and a couple that were long dead and aged to iron like hardness.

Our tools of choice were the recently obtained Iron Creek Forge Tomahawk, an older USMC machete I've had for years (thanks to my son for returning it from storage recently), a Livesay RCM, and a small crosscut saw.

Each tool did a great job but none were best for EVERYTHING. The machete did the best overall on the most types of materials; the Tomahawk was a close second. The RCM was too much tool for light work and just the wrong type for the hardest woods. However, it did get a good workout.

My daughter called me over at one point and said, "Dad, this tree is like steel, the Tomahawk just bounced off of it." I grabbed the RCM and tool a big swing. The was an audible PING and the knife just skittered along the surface of the fallen log. I feard the worst but the blade was intact. I tried a few more times and finally got a few chips to fly, but every blow caused the RCM to ring loudly. I finally switched to the saw and made quick work of the logs.

This reminds me... I haven't cleaned up the tools yet.
