EDC, in "bad" areas...thoughts please, RSK?

Camillus Cuda MAXX. If you're going to be potentially using this knife to survive...make it a BIG one.

I like how folks say, "Just don't go there." Well sometimes our jobs and lives dictate that we go there. I work in HVAC and we sometimes(more often than not) work in low class/high crime areas during the daytime. I work with my father, he packs, I can't(Federal/State Laws prevent this). We work in these parts of town to make the money to pay the bills...it's not really a choice. "Don't go." If we don't go then there is no money for food or the safe house to come home to, or the knew knives.

In these instances I pack two blades...one for work and one for possible, last ditch, it'd better be do or die time, defense. Since, I do not have the choice of a firearm and carrying pepper spray is not practical do to the minimalist nature of my work(more bulk=more difficulty working), I choose a big knife and a good pair of shoes.

1. If the area is that bad, don't go.
2. If you can't carry a gun, and you just have to go, carry a good sturdy walking stick and get training so you know how to use it.Most times, weapon length is an advantage.
3. Take someone with you that is as prepared as you are..
4. If you carry something that is not legal, carry something you can afford to toss into the nearest large body of water.
5. If the area is that bad, don't go.
