Just in the middle of swapping the strap on my watch. Thought the set looked very nice together, so I snapped a pic before I'd even finished hahaha.

Thanks for the compliment! :)

I've owned both - I think a lot of it comes down to what size knife you prefer…the L51 is a pretty substantial piece in terms of overall size (3.7 inch blade is typical). Thorburn's front-flippers are typically smaller, both in blade-length (more like 3 inches or a bit over) and fit in the hand. Initially the front-flipper mechanism seems strange, but it quickly grows on you and I actually prefer it (it gives the knife a "sleeker" look). Hope you're able to find one that suits you - I've never regretted buying a Thorburn :) John Arnold (another South African) makes excellent front-flippers as well - pretty darn close, if not equal to, a Thorburn in smoothness. His aesthetic sense is superb as well.

Thanks for the reply:thumbup:

Eventually, I'll probably have both as well. There's been some pretty cool flippers coming out of South Africa lately, and they're all at good prices. Those Front-Flippers are just so cool though, especially how you can open them with your thumb like a lighter. I'm hoping to stumble upon a A[SUP]2[/SUP] Front-Flipper or a L51 with a TI clip eventually, they seemed to be everywhere when I didn't have the $$ for one:grumpy:

There was a nice Thorburn on Folder Friday, but it wasn't speaking my language:D it was still nice though.
I'll find "the one" eventually!

Ha! that's how I deploy my front-flippers - just like a lighter. Very cool :) Yah, the South Africans are doing really cool stuff - really can't go wrong with them, and, as you say, the prices could be considerably higher for what you get.

Spyderco Domino, Oban 14, and an Oliva Serie G... all while watching Netflix on my porch on this beautiful Saturday evening in SoCal. Today is a good day.
