Fairly new "active" member here, but I have been lurking / reading for a while.

I am looking for a new EDC knife and pretty much have narrowed it down to either the ZT 0562 or the ZT 0566. For EDC, I am planning on going with the G10 version. Looking for something that will stand up to daily use, and is "just the right size" (Yes, I know that is very objective).

I was 1st set on the ZT 0566 for the size and price, but then I started looking at the ZT 0562. On paper it is only about a 1/4" larger, but I like the bearing system....

Just looking for input on these 2 knives for EDC. Which one would you go with and why?

Thanks!

Just for FYI - I have a ZT0350, ZT 0620CF M390 and my ZT900 will be here today. ;)

I have both and prefer the 562 to the 566. I don't mind assisted knives but the 562 is wicked smooth and to me it feels better in the hand than the 566. I think that would be the biggest thing I could say between the two. Both are great knives but the 562 just fits me better.

I've got both also. And have the 562 on me right now. Both great, and I really like ZT's assist mech, but prefer the non-assisted when they fire just as hard and fast...like the 562. One plus is you don't have the spring to work against when closing, so multiple handling options open up. My little boy has been using the 566 because, well, to a 14 year old, spring actions are just darn cool. ;)

I have both, never carry the 0566....its just too small for my taste. The 0562 has probably the best flipping action of any in the ZT/Hinderer lineup.

Another vote for the 0562. Carries extremely well for its size, not a dramatic weight difference (1/4 oz. IIRC), and I prefer it's length.

I haven't played with the 562, but the 566 is just about the perfect size.

I have a 770 as well and it still doesn't get carried as much as the 562. It is a really slim and lightweight folder and I tend to carry it more as a dressy knife. I would however pick the 770 over the 566.

I love my 0562CF in M390.
Never had an 0566, but I gotta say, Ive never had one better than my 0452! My favorite ZT!
And especially so since Jason Bosman sharpened her..

I'm also considering a ZT 0770... kind of a different "beast" I know... :)

The 770 is definitely different. A little thinner and lighter than the other 2. If I was to go 770 I would go Carbon Fiber! Out of the 3 I really like the 562 the best. ZT has come a long way with their Elmax and these knives just have a heck of an edge!

I have the 0566CF in M390. I like it; it fits my hand well. I have not carried it yet...it sits on my desk.
It is assisted and does NOT run on bearings. I could do without the assisted feature, and I don't need bearings.
However, I really wish that I could "switch out" the stainless steel in this nice folder and replace it with titanium. It would probably drop the weight of this folder by 0.6 ounce or so.
I do understand ZT using stainless and an Elmax blade...for a more economical model. However, why produce this special limited edition, with a premium blade of M390 and then still use stainless steel? It just makes the folder much "heavier" than necessary or desirable, IMO.

My vote is for 0562!
Love mine and can't imagine anything but a true XM being any better.

The 0562 is an awesome knife! It flips extremely smooth, rock-solid lock up, sharp like a laserbeam and a very good deep carry clip. Very hard to put down!

I can listen to the solid "clunk" of the 562 opening time and time again. No tinny wimp here. Good on the eyes too.

Ive Hade multiples of both. I'd recommend the 0562. I wish the 0566 had the 0562 internals and say.... s35 standard blade steel while im wishing

I definitely prefer the 0562 after having both. The 0562 carries very well for a knife of its size thanks to the great clip and the fact that it's light given its size compared to the 0566 because of the Ti frame vs Stainless. And the 0562 is wicked smooth and flies out with ease.
