Hey
I'm just wondering what everyone use for their EDC knife? Also if you had any recommendation on an EDC knife for around 80 USD or under.
Cheers

Take a good look at Kershaw, imo there's a lot of good knives out there that won't cost an arm and a leg..
That being said.. most of my edc's are somewhat on the pricey side.. :D

Hey mate.
What do you plan on using it for? There are a lot of options. Prices here tend to be a lot more than US prices though and the $80 dollar point has fewer options.

Presently, for work, is an Ontario Rat 1. Inexpensive and does the job. For home and outdoors around the house, at least presently its a VG10 Spyderco Stretch. For Camping/Cottaging my "go to" is a Spyderco Military.

Spyderco Delica will get the job done under your budget while you research and decide what you really like in a EDC blade.

Depends on your laws down under- can you carry locking blades, one hand opening?
Then it depends on your needs- opening envelopes or cutting down forests?

Many people feel adequate with a SAK, with the required tools for a specific job.
Spyderco and Kershaw are great knives and would cut nicely.
Svord, Opinel are great slicers too. Take your pick.

You have a big range of options the stretch is amazing or if you want a higher end steel an S30V Blur is fantastic.

Generally my EDC needs are light to moderate duty,so mostly mail/cardboard/packaging/food/zipties/etc. So for me EDC knives are folders at or under 4". Limited option at a firm $80 price point, so I'm going to modify it in my thinking to be <$100. Lots of good stuff in that range.

Spyderco: Manix 2LW, Delica,Endura, Dragonfly2,Native LW
Benchmade: check out the H&K Line, H&K Axis is a great deal
Kershaw: Take your pick, Blur (de-assisted) is my favorite
Ontario: RAT models, Utilitac models
Cold Steel: I don't own any, but lots of options here
SAK: Take your pick here
CRKT: again don't actually own any, but lots of decent budget offerings.

Welcome to the Forums, James!

I typically carry three knives for EDC: a Victorinox Rambler on my keychain, a Victorinox Pioneer, and either a Large or Small CRK Sebenza 21 Insingo. I carry the Rambler for the tools, the Pioneer for random every day utility/cutting chores, and the Sebenza just because I'm a knife-nut (and enjoy owning/carrying/using a really nice knife.) If you want to check out what other folks are carrying, this thread will keep you busy for a while: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Which-knife-or-knives-are-you-carrying-today ;)

For an $80 budget, I'd recommend picking up a Swiss Army Knife of some kind and a Spyderco Delica 4 ffg. If Spydercos aren't your thing, maybe check out an Ontario RAT 1 or 2. Good affordable folders, imo, and will leave you change to spare!

Good luck, OP! :)

Have you considered a small fixed blade for EDC?

I find them to be very capable for EDC tasks and they are easier to clean than a folding knife. Here is my current EDC:

and the package just disappears in your pocket due to being so thin:

This is a knife made by one of our knifemakers here on BladeFourms. And it is in your pricerange!

- Kershaw leek ($45) or blur ($50)
- Spyderco endura ($60) or delica ($55)
- Ontario rat model 1 or 2 (both under $30)
- spyderco tenacious ($40)

I own the delica, leek, blur (in s30v steel), ontario rat model 2, and the tenacious.

I like this one a lot , Manix 2 XL.
The XL is around $100, but the regular size Manix is about $90.

It's nice and slim , lots of blade. The XL might be a tad large for EDC, but the regular is probably much better.

Get a Kershaw Camber for around $80 bucks. Aluminum handles keep the weight down, blade is only around 3 inches, and it's S30V steel. There's a lot to like about that knife.

Spyderco Delica would be my suggestion for you or if you want something a little larger, Spyderco Endura. I EDC a Vic SAK and a ZT 0770CF. The SAK is within your price range. The Delica and Native are my favorite Spyderco blades that I use.

I hate to throw out a really common opinion, but you want a smallish knife? Get a Delica. Something bigger? Endura.

I have a benchmade mini grip in my pocket now. However you need to find the knife that works for you. Think about what you will use it for, how you will carry it, everyone is different that's why their are so many choices.
Nobody should buy a knife or anything else just because someone else has it.
Don't get me wrong you need a good knife. I suggest you find something you think will work, something not too expensive and carry it a wile. After you live with it a wile you can make a more informed choice.
Please ask questions but try and be specific and give us as much info as you can.
Hope this helps.
