EDC: Leek or Heat?

I don' t own a Camillus Heat but I do have two different Leeks, the liner lock and the frame lock versions. The stainless steel frame-lock version is the least expensive and I believe it's the model sold at Wal-Mart for around 39.00. I actually prefer this model to the more expensive aluminum scaled version.
The Leek is very well made and I often compare its precision to a Swiss watch. But IMO it's a gentleman's knife, good for light duty cutting chores and it's fun to play with. The Heat is bigger and most who own it rave about it. I would say it's a good choice for heavier cutting chores and probably a bit more versatile. For the price you can't beat the Leek, but if you want a larger knife the Heat is a good choice too.

The Leek is the one. The simple framelock is actually the best of the 6 Leeks I own in terms of EDC. Perfectly proportioned, deploys flawlessly, holds an edge though not as well as my S30V, but costs way less. Does not wear out the edge of your pockets, after nearly 2 years of use, and doesn't block access to the RF pocket like bigger or stickier knives do. It's the one:thumbup: :thumbup:

Very well said! The Leek was my EDC until I received my Heat about a week ago; I've been carrying the Heat ever since. The Leek is a great knife, but it's a bit small for some of the more demanding chores we often encounter; while the Heat handles these with ease.
I guess it really comes down to how often you will be calling upon your EDC to perform more demanding tasks; the added size and weight of the Heat more than make up for the increase in versatility, without making it uncomfortable to carry.....just MHO. Both are exceptional knives, but each have their individual strong points.......

Yeah, I was gonna say that if you're considering the Leek and a Camillus assisted knife then I would reccomend the Blaze instead of the Heat. The Blaze is much more comparable size wise to the Leek than the Heat IMHO. But, I would suggest the Camillus knives based on my experiences with my experiences.
