EDC of a fixed blade

I won't carry a neck knife, it compromises too much blade. I can pack a 5" folder in the pocket space taken up by an Izula. A 4" Spyderco Military is even better, and similar in weight, to the Izula.

I've been carrying my ESEE-3 Clip Point daily, even while wearing a suit, and it is the best EDC knife I could imagine. All of the benefits of a fixed blade, while having just enough blade for any job I could come across, with a handle big enough to get a real grip on. It's also flat and concealable. I need to take some pictures and write up a report, post coming...

I tend to use the sheath from KSF for my Izula when I can carry it. Most of the time it rides in my bag and I am more then happy to just have a decent folder on me... Work is very touchy about knives, so I keep a real low profile if I am carrying the Izula. I hate things around my neck, always have.... won't wear a neck knife 99% of the time.

I carry myESKABAR IWB right side 3 o'clock, I make belt loops by pulling a para loop through each top hole and slide my belt throught those loops. Its been the most comfortable carry for the ESKABAR I have found, and its easy access, easy to conceal.

I can't stand something hanging from my neck, so I don't neck carry a knife. Or a compass for that matter. If I have to dangle the knife, I make an improvised shoulder rig and wear it under a t shirt. Moose

mini tec lok is AMAZING. I really like it. I wear dark dress pants and shirt/tie daily.

Izula spent over a year right on the belt - horizontal - strongside draw. Wrapped my tan one with balck paracord, it disappears on my belt.

HEST spends time there too. Same spot. Same carry orientation.
I took the handles off the HEST to do this (to blend in to dark pants) originally, but now my handles are so dark it doesn't matter.

Both are perfect - Izula is probably easier as it's a tad lighter, and now my HEST prybar is scratched up so it doesn't blend in so easily.

I love my carpenter style jeans and use the ruler pocket as a perfect fit for my Izzy. Easy reach and I've never had it fall out. Handle sticks out some so if your workplace is sensitive not such a great idea.

In pocket is easiest-the stock sheath for the HEST and RC3 work but the plastic starts to rattle once it's been used and loosened up. I made my own in pocket leather sheath, it's thin and low profile.

I sometimes like to use a neck sheath when I'm carrying a heavy backpack with a hip belt out in the woods (which would interfer with a belt sheath), but for true EDC of a small fixed blade like the Izula I like a pocket sheath.

I carry my Izula in a pocket sheath from shotgunner11. I either wear it on my belt with a tec-lok or just loose in my pants pocket and it carries great. Once I get my Hest it will be carried the same way, in my pocket or on my belt.

Is the clip point sharpened on the top as well?
If it is, this legal in PA? Can't find any real PA Knife laws.
I am thinking about the esee 3 mil model for EDC in PA.
Thanks!

Ive been EDCing my ESEE3MIL IWB using the stock sheath and boot clip for the last few months. Its been great. When I EDC my Izula its in the stock sheath with a molle lock on my belt under my shirt.

I EDC my 3 with a boot clip IWB or between my belt and pants if I have a coat on at around 9 o'clock vertically. If you feel you have to take it off for whatever reason, it's convenient to remove and replace without having to undo a paracord belt loop or something. I tried pocket carrying it for awhile, but for me it was just too much of a PIA to resheath it. Good luck!

Kyle.

I wear my Izula horizontal on my belt. I rigged some paracord to the sheath to hold it to my belt.

I tried carrying multiknives for a week just for kicks, it actually was easy to carry and hardly went noticed, except for the flashlight..

I shaved down the stock sheath as I seen others do and thought it was a great idea (its not) as I think it carried better stock, ymmv.. however the benefit shaving the sheath is it makes it more rectangular shaped and I plan to put on a RB and add a PSK to it...

the hest was on belt carried my strong side 3:00, simply attached with zip ties, leatherman at 4...

I've carried the Izula in stock sheath in front pocket and better yet carpenters or cargo pants works good..... with that said, I think the primary way I will carry my Izula is NECK..

Never carried a neck knife til last week and its easy and comfortable for me, don't really notice its there, I carried it naked.. my other Izulas wrapped and one with full tigerwood scales..

ok tons of useful info here wow thanks guys... I have decided my second ESEE will be either a 3 MIL or HEST which do you guys think is the better knife for EDC use and as a smaller companion to my ESEE 5 for czmping/outdoorsy stuff? I have never handled either knife and will be buying online so wont have chance to see them in person. I like the idea of the HEST but I am worried the pry bar will get caught on crap. does anyone have pics of a 3 MIL and HEST side by side for size comparison?

For EDC, the HEST will probably be a little easier to carry around and conceal if need be. You should really consider the Izula as well.

That said though the 3MIL isn't that much bigger than the HEST, the sheath is though. I've got a 3MIL and love mine and I personally consider it to be my companion knife for my ESEE-5. You can EDC a 3MIL, but it also depends I guess to your work environment. I personally can't get away with it where I work which is why I EDC an Izula because I can keep it hidden. I've tried with the 3MIL, but it's just not as easy.

Definitely the 3. Simpler all-around design which will lend itself to more applications, IMO.

I am really leaning toward the HEST currently it just looks like an awesome little knife. I am just concerned if the pry bar is really stabby when you are carrying it. lets just say I am not the most graceful of humans.... but I will wait for a while and hear what the wise ESEE folk have to say.

I carry an izula on my belt and one in my right front pocket. I got one of those cheap plastic bungie keyrings from walmart. I put the splitring on the top of the izula sheath on that elongated hole and just clip it to my belt loop! That way i just pull the knife out and the sheath just hangs. it works great
