Interested in your thoughts here.

I normally carry only my SAK mini-champ to work since I wear suits all week and I need something small and Sheeple friendly. However, my normal EDC outside of work is the mini-champ along with a medium sized slippie such as a stockman or my new sowbelly which just don't ride well in suit pants.

Today I replaced my medium sized knife with my peanut. I realize now that the peanut is small enough to ride fine in my suit pants. My question is this: Is it silly to carry two small knives like the SAK and Peanut together?

Kind of a silly question, but I'm interested in your thoughts.

at work I edc a LM wave and a large stock man or opinel when not at work I need a cutting edge more than other tools so I just carry the stock man. I think small blades on slippies are very sheeple friendly.

I keep a Vic Ranger in my left pocket for all the neat knives, and a better steeled folder in my right pocket for blade use.

In the presence of so-called sheep, I use only the 1" Ranger blade.

I always carry two knives; my little sak and either a Spyderco Manix or Military, or a Case medium stockman, Moore Maker three backspring whittler, or my Queen copperhead. One to use around "sheeple" (sak) and one for myself, when I really need a tool :) Sorry for the bad pictures :o

There are no silly questions realstagman; everyone is beneficial. My motto is if one knife is good then two is fantastic...I carry a yellow handle Case with CV steel and a Rat-3 boot knife in D2 steel..Then again I don't wear a suit but it doesn't matter, heck with all those nice pockets in a suit think of the possibilities and variations of knives you can carry. The SAK and Peanut are great in my opinion..

Seems fine to me and a very good combination at that, of course i've carried 2 knives for most of my life, of late a sodbuster jr and a leatherman sideclip. before that it was an endura and a sak pioneer.
i'll pretty much bet you everyone that reads your post will approve, of course it's like asking fat people what they think of buffets.

I've been carrying a peanut in my dress pants and a multitool in my bag, which is always close at hand, for anything else that comes up.

I have been thinking of getting a small SAK like a Mini Champ though.

I carry my old 303 (440) Stockman in a cuttersandcollectors.com fancy Buckaroo sheath, hangs from belt on a nice adjustable strap and rides along seam of pants, so no knife 'bulge' in front of your slacks.... it's so unnoticed that most folks probably think it's a pocket watch.....: - }

I EDC a small and a medium slippie, a Minichamp and a Pioneer Harvester. I gave up on daily carry of large folders (tactical or otherwise) and pliers-type mutli-tools a while back. Even though I'm not completely happy with this set up, it has worked pretty well for me.

I think that that is the bottom line. . .whatever works for you. You're the only one that knows your needs. If two small knives work for you, then go for it. If it doesn't, find something that does.

My EDC is constantly evolving to meet my needs (real and perceived), and I doubt that I'll ever find that magic combination of tools that, once found, never again needs tweaking. Though, to be honest, hanging out on this forum has really gotten me to wondering if my biggest EDC issue is not a of lack of tools, but rather a lack of imagination and adaptability on my part.

On the other hand, shiny new toys are a lot more fun than analyzing and trying fix my inadequacies.

Take care,

Andy

Naw, 2 or 3 is fine. SAK Classic in the left pocket and a Tinker in the right. If I want to carry another slippie, then the Tinker goes to my right pocket and usually something about the size of a mini-trapper or less goes in the main pocket.

I work in security for a financial center here, probably 1200-1500 working in the place during day shift, depending on the day. Our uniform consist of dress slacks and a blazer (accursed tie too). I used to carry a Wenger version of the Tinker (the smaller one) on a tether and slipped into an inside pocket of the blazer just in case I forgot to put one in my pocket that morning. I did until I gave it to another officer who didn't have a pocket knife. When I asked her if she had gotten the rattles off a rattlesnake they had killed near the on-site daycare center (those get treated a little harsher than those found elsewhere on campus), she said she didn't have a knife. So, I gave her that one and told her she didn't have an excuse now. She managed to shave the fingerprints off each thumb before she got smarter in handling it. But, she figured out it was sharp! :D She keeps and uses it often now.

However, I digress. I've found the Vic Tinker or a mini-trapper sized slipjoint carries well in dress slacks over the workday. We get in a lot of walking most days and these knives carry well. I mainly keep the little Classic on hand for the scissors and the nail file/screw driver blade.

A more realistic silly question would have been if it was odd to only carry one knife at a time. ;)

I don't think its silly at all.

In theroy one knife may be all one needs to get through the day, but I have not carried just one knife for many decades. A Victorinox classic has been on my keyring for so long that I've forgotten about it untill those times I need a knife for a little cutting job and my keyring is hanging off the left hip belt loop of my jeans via a carabiner. A small 58mm vic with a peanut in a good edc combo. The Vic is more a small combo tool that knife, and I think of it as such, while the peanut is a good small knife and a piece of pocket jewlery. No matter what is in my right pocket, theres a small sak around someplace.

Besides, we're knife knuts and as such we indulge ourselves. :D

I carry only a small Queen stockman that is 3 1/4", and sits well in dress pants, or a suit jacket pocket.

This has not been mentioned, and I am not sure if you are in the market for a new knife but I like the two blade congress. It is one I carry when I dress up. It is thin enough to carry in dress pants, but offers a good size blade. Another one that is nice and thin is the slim line trapper.

When I wear my jeans I carry a stockman and an Atwood prybaby (good for a lot of chores). When I know I am going to be doing some work, I grab my Leatherman Wave or Surge. I have a few SAKs around, but I don't carry them much. I can say that they take a lickin and keep on tickin. My tinker has seen a good bit of use over the past few years. One time while I was at school, my teacher some how locked the cash box for our fund raiser and could not get it open. He brought it to me as he knew I always had some type of tool. I used the can opener on my SAK (did not have the prybaby at that time) to pry and unlock the cash box. My knife was a little bent, with just a few strikes from my hammer it was good and straight again. Another time the same knife hit a concrete floor very hard. The scale poped off and was a little buggered. With some Gorila Glue I stuck it back on and it sits in my ammo bag ready to get used for anything from adjusting the sights to digging out stove piped shells ( I had a 22 auto that had a problem with that, but now she is fixed)

Best of luck,
John

Interesting timing. Just picked this beauty up in a trade at a recent show. I think it may ride with me tomorrow if the stockman doesn't. Jeans week this week at work, so I'll probably take a medium sized slippie.

I always carry multiple knives, including on those rare occasions when I wear a suit.

A minichamp and a small slipjoint have on occasion served me well. Go for it.

I normally carry only my SAK mini-champ to work since I wear suits all week and I need something small and Sheeple friendly. ... Is it silly to carry two small knives like the SAK and Peanut together?

I worked in a big office from 1998-2003 and had to wear a tie and dress slacks every day, so I had a similar dilemma. I solved it by keeping a SAK in my desk drawer and toting a small folder (usually a two-blade Buck 709 or a 526 Executive) in pocket. Thankfully, now I telecommute and I wear jeans every day, carry whatever the hell knives I want and usually have a few more laying around the desk to fiddle with ........ AND I'm making more money.

Not silly to carry two (or more) knives...........I always have a SAK Mechanic on my key chain and one traditional slipjoint in a clip case in my right front pocket (Boker Washboard Bone Copperhead at the moment). When I'm out fishing in the boat I have a SAK Rambler on the boat key chain, SAK Mechanic on car key chain and a Spyderco Pacific Salt clipped in my pocket. There's also a Dexter fillet knife in the boat console and a bait knife in my tackle station.

I carry way too many knives on a daily basis. :(

For office duty, the best knife is the Vic Executive. Small, but quite a bit larger than the classic, sheeple friendly and handy. I love it. The alox Cadet and Bantam are great knives for dress pants as well.
