Yup i broke it, it is on the way to CS for warranty work, which they may or may not honner i am judging by the tone of the email i got back from them

so i need a new EDC blade so i can stop carrying this stupid paraframe II.

-Im hoping under 100$
-Cannot be automatic, but can be "Spring assisted"...i live in Upstate Ny
-Needs to be tough(i work with my hands for a living, and i am a VF/EMT and my knives see alot of use)
-I am hoping around 3.5-4" for the blade
-GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, ie: like LL bean or Vortex optics...you break it we fix/replace no questions asked
-Pocket clip
-Friendly to Lefties
-i will be getting 2, one for carry and one for my Fire Gear, i like to use the same knife(i don't want any of that seatbelt cutter/glass breaker crap on it)

so what are your guys thoughts?

cheers!

If you're beating up on your knives that hard, maybe consider a fixed blade? ESEE are very tough and have the best warranty possible (no questions asked). The ESEE 3 fits all of your requirements, though it's obviously not a folder. You can carry it concealed inside the waistband to avoid strange looks. Not sure how NY's fixed blade laws are though.

The best knife you can get for the money (which is kinda alot) would be the Benchmade 940 Osborne. Get the one with the plain satin blade and aluminum scales... That knife will last anything, We pry stuff with it, beat the hell out of it and it still performs like a champ. The s30-v steel is amazing and the blade is thick and strong.

Hope this helps-Bergermiester

alot of my buddies have benchmades and they rave about them...ill look into the 940 osborne,

For a hard use guy like yourself look at the benchmade contego or adamas.

How did it break? Im not trying to bash you or anything I have just never seen a chunk get taken out of a knife like that

That's an impressive fail, must have really put it to work. If your willing to spend just a tad over your $100 price range I would highly recommend a ZT 350. I have attached a picture of it with some of my favorite EDC knives so you can see the size. It is an absolute BEAST of a folder. A little heavy, but nice and thick in the blade and its S30v. I would be shocked if you could break this one (without trying to on purpose of course). And as far as I know Zero Tolerance has terrific customer service. Good luck!

Benchmade 300 Ball flipper has a nice grippy handle and is about $30 cheaper than the 940. And this presentation impressed me enough to get one:

Yup zt 0350 sounds about prefect for your price range. It's definitely up to some hard use. $100 could easily find one on the exchange or the Kershaw guy has blems for a little under $100 some times. If not $110 to $120 could buy one online

ZT 0566 / 0700
Spyderco Vallotton Used
Benchmade 275 (Bought my 3rd BM 275 brand new online for $99, their about $120-160 not on sale)

Oh yeah, How did you break that Recon?

If he wants customer service don't bother with a blem. They lose their warranty, and with the current price they are just plainly not worth the meager savings.

haha well

I work for a Boat Shop working on peoples expensive toys, i was working on a Catalinia 250(sailboat) and i stuck the blade in(mind you the whole blade fit) in a turnbuckle on one of the shrouds to loosen it up so we could take the mast down for the winter, i applied a little pressure with a crescent wrench on the shroud, and the chuck just fell out of the blade....it was freken weird.

ill admit when i am to hard on something...but that was just bizarre.

only i can break a knife like that lol

You've got to get yourself a BM Grip. I took my 550SBT to Iraq twice and it never failed. And it was $75 (on a mil. supply site) and made out of 440C! I love that steel; cheap and more than enough to do its job. And just to add to my assurance, I'm a Combat Engineer, and the job included: construction, destruction, land mine/IED disposal, route clearance, heavy equipment, and tactical searching and breaching. And now for the mandatory vet story...

So there I was, a cold night in East Al Anbar, around November 2005. Some mates "relocated" my Grip which I had put down to perform another task. Where did they relocate it you say? Right in between a stilt and deck of a rooftop defensive implement. Having forgot to go back for it until the construction was near complete, I tactically lost my mind at the horror of losing what is possibly a Marines most loved item that doesn't use projectiles. Once my comrades couldn't contain the guilt, they pointed out where it was. Now that it was pinned by 2x6, 2x4, plywood, sandbags, cut Hesco wall, and some camouflage netting, the thought of getting it back seemed hopeless. But, after some prying (from the knife while pinned) BFH tapping, and frantic jarring, the knife popped out. After fondling it in the glow of a chemlight, I exhaled with delight; it was in perfect shape! Now concluding the or ordeal with a deterring statement of, "next time, someone's getting a KaBar in the face" the night finished off normally.

So, get a Grip! I highly recommend.

From a different perspective, I've carried and lost too many $100-300 blades. Personally I would buy 4 Ontario rat1's and have three freshies ready and waiting. While not as sexy as the zt's bm's emersons etc they are hard wearing knives, blades are easy to sharpen to a great edge and for the price easy to part with when it slips out of a pocket while lifting a stretcher or jumping out of a truck.

OP, I have no idea what you were doing that caused that kind of damage, but please use the right tool for the job. A knife is only meant for CUTTING things

That said, the Contego is a great knife for harder use. I love mine

Hk 14715 Axis.
3.7" .150 thick(give or take a few thousandths) D2 blade
Full steel liners with G-10 grips
Axis lock
Made in USA by Benchmade
Can be had for just under $100
It's a tough beast that screams value.
Highly recommended!

There's been some great knives mentioned in this thread, but if you're looking to get multiplies of the same knife then this is the best suggestion so far. My opinion of course.

Had one and loved it. A lieutenant got one and bent it 45° before he had it a month.
