EDC replacement from GEC

I agree with Gary, the forum knife is the way to go for a spear blade like that. 77s are great, but I personally think they're a little overrated. If it were me (and it is, too), I would grab one of the bull nose 71s that's coming up. Drop point, not spear, so you do get a tick more slicing belly, and the tip is pointy enough for anything you'd do with a slipjoint. BUT it's basically GEC's Sodbuster Jr., and the ergonomics of both the bull nose and Sodbuster jr. I find to be absolutely perfect. The construction is a little stouter than the 77 - not that 77s are weak, but the 71s will take more thump'n. They come in ypur micarta all day long. Also nice in a medium-large sized hand.

I like the GEC 72. I have several along with a couple of 73's. The liner lock 73 is a bear trap, even after the factory "repaired" it. The non locking 73 is better, but the 72's open, lock, and unlock so smoothly. My last GEC purchases were two 72's, one in olive micarta, the other grizzly cut bone.
