edc small fixed blade

I've tried quite a few fixed blades as EDC. It's very hard to find something that provides a good enough grip, doesn't feel too big during carry, and comes with a good quality and good riding sheath. My Anso Hybrid is the best I've tried. The overall length is only 6", but I got a 2 1/2" blade out of the deal.

The horizontal Kydex sheath is just plain awesome. Jens' belt attachment works great, and it will handle a TekLock if needed.

I also find that a fixed blade needs to look more sheeple friendly than a folder, to be ultimately successful as a city EDC. The Anso stainless damascus works well toward that goal; and being RWL-34 based, there is no compromise in edge holding quality. The natural handle scales also transform the knife into more of a work of art than a threatening knife.

For successful fixed blade EDC, a lot more things have to come together than on a folder.

Check out a Tops Wolf Pup great little knife made out of 1095 steel I believe (feel free to correct me if I am wrong) and the price is reasonable. I would recomend looking on up on the internet. Best of luck in your hunt.

I forgot to mention Graham Bros fixed blade pocket knives. They're great! I have a Pocket Kukri and had a few Razels.

Are they at all readily available or are you just teasing us with those pics :grumpy:
:D

No idea. You'd have ot ask Jens if he's still willing to pump out a fixed blade.

I guess I am teasing........... :D

I carry my Spyderco Kumo in the office everyday. I use Mercop's Tactical Tether, with the sheath hovering above the criticals. With a tether on the handle, I can keep the entire knife below the waistband without being difficult to access.

I 3 favorite pcoket fixed blades, in no particular order:
1. Gene Ingram Pocket Hippo
2. Charles May Fireant
3. Charles May Handi Scandi

I have had a CRKT "neck peck" for years that I will rotate in my
EDC. But I have not been able to find them anywhere. I may have bought mine while the getting was good. It is light and a forget its with me until I need it.

Don Cowles makes has an exceptional gent's fixed blade made for him, and it's just a beauty. It's rather small, but it will cover most any job as an EDC.

The sheath comes with a pocket clip that allows carry like any regular folder.

Here's a link to a post from a ways back.

It's worth checking out, and this post has renewed my interest. I'll probably pick one up.

I carry this BRKT in my left front pocket a few days a week. It's no different than my Buck 500 or TNT in O/A size.
