I've tried quite a few fixed blades as EDC. It's very hard to find something that provides a good enough grip, doesn't feel too big during carry, and comes with a good quality and good riding sheath. My Anso Hybrid is the best I've tried. The overall length is only 6", but I got a 2 1/2" blade out of the deal.
The horizontal Kydex sheath is just plain awesome. Jens' belt attachment works great, and it will handle a TekLock if needed.
I also find that a fixed blade needs to look more sheeple friendly than a folder, to be ultimately successful as a city EDC. The Anso stainless damascus works well toward that goal; and being RWL-34 based, there is no compromise in edge holding quality. The natural handle scales also transform the knife into more of a work of art than a threatening knife.
For successful fixed blade EDC, a lot more things have to come together than on a folder.
