EDC Storage.

I store the ones I dont EDC in knife rolls that stay on the bottom shelf of a night stand. The ones I do (tradional and new age alike) live in a W.R. Case Collector Edtion Box thats been emptied of the plastic frame and brass coin. It sits on the top of the night stand so I can tuck them in and kiss them good night. I find it so hard to sit here and type this without literally 7 knives in my pockets. You know you guys do the same.

Mine sit on my night stand too. Usually a Case large Stockman and a Vic SAK. My rotating EDC stock is in a tray in my closet. As soon as I get dressed knives go in the pocket.

It's interesting how we like to have our knives around us, a 'night stand' being one of the common places. Most of my knives are not edc's and are stored in knife rolls and flat zip-up storage cases, but i also have 100 or more knives lying around everywhere in the house. This includes actual and potential EDC's as well lots of knives i might like to look at or hold for awhile. There is something about having a lot of knives visible and immediately available that i find enjoyable.
I have no wife so there is no interference with this 'open' approach to location of temporary knife 'homes'. My daughter, soon to be 6, has grown up with knives being everywhere, and she only picks one up if she needs to cut something like a banana or the labels out of any new clothing she gets, so this abundance of available knives is not an unacceptable danger to her. But i could not have the pleasure of all these knives instantly accessible if there was an adult woman living in the house.

Most of mine are in my gun safe.

I had to add a shelf to the top as I was fortunate enough over the last few years to buy a good many fine Schrade and Case slippies.

I keep a couple or three out though. Usually a Victorinox Explorer plus, a Schrade Walden 787, and a Schrade 863 laying around or one in a pocket.

I fear that I am again running out of room on that shelf. Which is a good thing, in my knife knut opinion. I can't add any more shelving but was thinking of getting a cheap knife roll and rigging up some way to hang boxless examples on the inside of the door.

I have bought a few inexpensive, off shore made, rolling tool chests, and these with their shallow drawers, make for excellent knife storage units.

I keep a handful by my computer, right now I see 6 on the sliding keyboard tray. Most of the ones I keep out for carry are on a shelf in my bedroom in a display box. Its one of those hanging displays that I pulled the foam out of and leave it flat on top of some books. I can look at them and pick one out easily. I also have a smaller chess board/box that I lost all the pieces to where I put my small knives.

I use these inexpensive glass-topped oak cases. They can be displayed vertically or stacked horizontally and the knives never move around.
