I am looking at G10 marksman as Spyderco pm2. I am not too familiar with some of the models from Benchmade, Gerber, SOG etc. All of them seem to have a model or two that are known to be quality. Over 250.00 is a bit much.

You need to defiine "hard use"

It seems to mean different things to different people....

The three I would recommend are:

PM2
BM 940
BM Grip

Most people that have owned a variety of knives and brands will be close to my list...these three knives are EDC superstars, and have been for a long time.

Just to add, all three come in varios blade steels and handle materials, so you can stay well below $250, or get close to it.

They are also American Made (thanks for supporting American MFG, it needs it)

My friend - please do not put Gerber and Benchmade in the same sentence. They are not in the same league. There so many high quality usa mfg folders under $250 so I think you still need ro be a bit more specific about your requirement in order for folks to provide more meaningful suggestions.

Great list right there!
Those 3 seem to be models that people have multiples of.......for good reason!
I might add the Manix to it.

One possible exception to this: the 06 MANUAL Folder. The assisted 06's are Chinese crap, but the 06 Manual (in S30V) is as close to a hard-use knife of actually decent quality that Gerber has dared to go.

The 06 Manual folder is around $110 to $130 if you shop around online.
