You use that on steel or copper?
Would ketchup do anything on a high carbon steel too? :)

It does on 1095, but I can't speak for anything else. On copper saltwater will turn it green. I submerge my Panerai Bronzo and make it look like a dime store watch. I let it stain the band even.
Here's a guy on IG that goes real far with his patina and that level is called "shipwreck."

Do a ketchup bath and it's back to the way it was. There is no damage done to the watch, unless you set it with crust on the crown stem. That watch pictured is a dive watch made post millennial from a brand that stemmed from the Italian Navy - Panerai.

Some do it because they can, others to mislead people about their watch, and some like I just like it with patina.
