Most excellent, my friend! The maroon micarta was my second choice... I might end up with one anyhow.. LOL!



A bit too cold (-2 last I checked) to be out today, so I had to improvise on the pics for today.
 
The Mrs got me a watch like I wore in the 70s a box of Conversation Hearts and what else but a Loveless designed knife for Valentines Day. (I got the knife and she paid for it ;) )

Today Ive got the Al Mar SERE 2000, and my Sebenza, which I just re-profiled last night.

I'm liking' the new edge.

Thanks, yes it was a gift for my wife to be. I put it by the coffee maker last night to suprise her in the morning. She quite likes it.

I was at a disadvantage in the tool department. I just used a sawzall to cut the rough shape. The majority was done with the Caly 3. Out of the dozen knives I own the Caly was the best for the job. I used the sawzall blade by itself to do shaping along with an old metal file and finished with sandpaper. I also found a recipe for homemade stain 3/4canola oil and 1/4 vinegar.

 
It warmed up to bearable 10 degrees this afternoon, so I got out to the woods after all. Brought the LT Coyote along:

I'm carrying today and every day a Kravitt & Coombs custom knife from Treestump Leather. I designed the knife back in 1988 and Lamont Coombs has been making them for me since around 1990. It can be seen on the Treestump Leather web site. I and the nearly 300 people who have bought these think it is the ideal size and configuration for a fixed blade knife.
