This showed up about an hour ago.

It's Sawmill Cutlery, but I don't care! I love the curves, the "flow" of the thing. I wanted something clean and simple, and I sure found it! :D

that's a interesting blade, 5/8 thick by the looks. did you make it?

Sorry I missed your question, Monstrum, but the answer is, good heavens, no! This is the TOPS Knives "Lil' Roughneck", a 3/8" thick (you were close) chunk of 5160 steel, with bevels. OAL is 6 1/4, and the blade is 2 3/4. With the bevels ground down, it actually cuts now, but it will never be a slicer. I just wanted the most gonzo thick knife I could find, and as far as I know, this is it! It's also about the perfect length for EDC.

Between you, me, and the rest of the Internet, I'm still trying to love it. I really want to, because I like "can't bust 'em" knives. But when you make the blade stock thicker, you encounter a point of diminishing returns, where it begins to interfere too much with cutting performance, making the knife less desirable, simply because it's a poor cutting tool.

Regardless of where you think that point is, this thing is definetly over it!

Today was new knife day.
These are pictures that Jim sent me. I'll try to take some ones tomorrow in natural light. Jim was amazing to work with and his Back Pocket Trapper in desert ironwood is nothing less than a work of art. Thank you to Tyler (Blues Bender) for recommending him.

Here is another beauty that found it's way on to my doorstep this morning made by ABS Master Smith, Ray Smith. There isn't a lot of his work posted here or talked about on bladeforums and that needs to change. The price he's charging for his knives is more than reasonable considering his qualifications and talents. If anyone is interested, I can provide his email and a phone number, just leave me a visitor message.

Thanks man. That's good that your home life has settled down.

I feel obligated to list Raymond's email as it has now changed from the one he lists on his website: bladesmith@wildblue.net
