Hey EdWood....nice slip-joint. :)
If you post a picture of the tang stamp, I could tell you. Or, post it in Bernard's...
From here, it looks like it could be a Schrade..

Anyway.....I carried a Spyderco Cat.. Great knife for the money.

I hope this one works.

It sure does..
It is a John Primble made knife. Distributed by Belknap Hardware Co. in Louisville. Brand started in late 1800's. I believe they had other companies make knives for them...I don't remember. I believe they were bought out in the 1970's or 1980's. This one looks 1940's or 50's. I might need to look at one of my knife books. Again, great find!

Its great others are like me on here and carrying old knives! the old imperial scout I'm carrying today is awesome!

You did a really nice job of returning it back to life. It looks great compared to the Ebay auction page.

It was much worse than the pics showed, I almost thought it would be a write off! It has the perfect weight, you know its there but its not dropping my pants with a nice thick blade.

Yeah, I have a similar scout knife (Kamp King). I might have to clean it up over the week-end.
Have you bought any more beat up knives? I like seeing the before and after. :)
Are you going to re-shape the blade, or keep it as is?

What’s the handle made out of. It looks like bone or plastic?

looks to me like delrin. the bit of handle next to the left bolster is very light, reminds me of delrin.

i could be wrong though.

This knife is older than Delrin is IIRC, looks like pocket worn bone to me.

I have a couple, but will prolly be holding off more vintage knives till i'm back in the US and then I have estate auctions galore to go in search of old knives.

The best place to find old knives are at flea markets, and for only a couple of dollars, you could have a nice slip-joint. You'll have fun once you move over here. :D
