What happened to the tip ?

Tostig

You noticed!

I modded the knife to be legal to carry in Chicago. The blade is now under the 2.5 inch limit, and the tanto-ish line to it has proven to be very useful, at least for me, more so than the stock tip was.

Thats some sweet camo anodizing on that JYD Tostig. Did you just tape up the parts you didn't want ano'd and then throw it in the solution?

I haven't really started doing anything yet today but so far I'm sitting here fondling my Burger EXK1 and Spyderco Mini Manix.

Thank you buddy :)

It was the oddest experience yet with titanium i've had. I cut little shapes of gorilla tape and applied them then boiled the slabs in oxy clean , well the slabs were barely colored , barely at all and I used a lot of oxy for about 30-45 minutes.. it was not until I heated the slabs up that the color change took place , once side is gold and purplish , the locking side dark grey and gold. It looks a little funky but I love it... It's not like I cant try it over again :)

I had to go on an airplane to get where I am this week, so no EDC. I leave them at home because I'm scared of forgetting to pack them into checked luggage. Here in NZ, airport security confiscate prohibited items.

In my home city, my EDC is a Leatherman Micra. It lives in the fob pockets on my work trousers. It opens envelopes, cuts sellotape and screws in computer connectors - all the stuff I do every day. I don't use it every single day but I almost always use it several times in a week. I used to carry a SAK in my laptop bag but never used it, so I took it out before one trip and never put it back in the bag.

I'd like to buy something classy, something in the "gentleman's folder" category, as the micra isn't long enough to cut apples and oranges. Once I have some money free, I'll see what I can afford. And what the law will let me carry (New Zealand has had a run of bad knife-related crime so the government is looking at legislation to deal with it).
