I gave my new Biryukov a Christmas present this morning--a disassembly, cleaning, and re-lube. There was a funny little double hitch when opening/closing that I thought was caused by the lockbar insert screw tip standing proud, but that turned out not too be the case. There's a detent ball ramp cut into the blade tang--a feature I enjoy on a couple other knives--but it's entry point is slightly mis-aligned and the ball steps over the tang a taste heading into or out of the ramp. After a thorough interior cleaning, relieving the pivot of a considerable amount of ugly black grease, replacing that with W10 NanoOil, and adding a dab of FinishLine to the detent ball, the knife is way smoother, snappier, and more solid opening and closing. The hitch is pretty negligible now and I'll decide later if it's worth modding the ramp entry to eliminate it.

We had a nice quiet Christmas here with our two local sons and GFs over in the afternoon for gifts and snacks as well as a long call with our third son in New York with his wife and our new grandson in the background. Hope y'all had a great day too.

The wife (who rarely understands my knife addiction), who (I assumed) didn't know the difference between an mtech gas station knife and a CRK Sebenza, somehow managed to pull off these presents on her own. Wow! It's been a while since I was this excited on a Christmas morning. Suffice it to say, I'll be carry both today.
