EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

K33ncutter, No, not yet. I have quite a variety of steels on my knives but no Maxamet yet.

I'm not that far behind you. I have the one and only knife so far, and I haven't made a lot of test cuts. Then again, I'd be happy if this new variant was simply "just as sharp" as their regular offering, but might have superior adjuncts like corrosion properties or lighter weight.

I'm still experimenting.

Sea smooth surface is as infinite as my loneliness
Not possible to run from myself and not possible to forget in a sweet dream
This life doesn’t have new shores
And the wind tears down the sail's remains...
I'm here!

Giving this little fixie a go today. Haley DesRosiers designed/Winkler made BTU (Bird-Trout-Utility). I’ve never had any of these contoured scales, so I was a little concerned with that unknown, but they work well in hand.

I like the design, though the edge could be a bit thinner. It’s a nice minimal size with a 3” blade, similar to the UTX-85 in that “just enough” handle dimension.

Going big and pretty today:

Nice one, Greg. Rainmaker, right? I've always been intrigued by that model, but have had a hard time deciding between that and a full-sized Wayfarer if I go for a custom build.. I only have a 247 in all-Stealth finish with gold hardware which I like a lot. Your post would encourage me to carry that one today, but I'll be back and forth between the sheetmetal and wood shops and it's too easy to bang the knife up bumping into the work and equipment there. I don't mind use marks, but random scratches on nice knives are annoying.

O
I just scored a like-new 0801BW for a nice price off the Exchange, Zep, and am pretty pumped to have it. I've always envied yours. This new one of mine will make a great user and will take away any regret at keeping my pimped beauty in the drawer.

Seduced by the power of the Dark Side....
Wow that baby is like new! That's one of my favorite ZT's, I carry mine sometimes but I'm careful what I use it for.

Good day for some Ribs!

I meant the stomp shear--not my beloved Sebenza.

You already made me afraid of my english!

I have so many of those things laying around from my old days as a bartender. I always use the can opener by the fridge though.. ironically it's probably the worst bottle opener I own but it's always there in the same drawer when I need it and I don't have to dig through my junk drawer.
Right after this moment when this post is out there, all those companies with things like kershaw shuffle have to admit their defeat. One just cant win this battle for everyone having a good opener.

Yes, it's an old-style liner lock Rainmaker. I'm glad I got one before they switched to frame locks--I much prefer a well done liner lock to a frame lock.

All stealth + gold sounds pretty cool, hmm. Olamic has so damn many options that part of what keeps me from buying the next one is not being able to decide which options to go with. I've been carrying my Gunkote-coated Halloween Swish a lot lately and I really like the two-tone coating, it seems to be durable and it feels nice on the knife:

I still carry my green Swish most, though, it's my lightest Swish and still my favorite of the bunch. That blue Rainmaker is one of my favorite ~4" blade folders, I carry it and my 0454 most out of my folders that size and the Rainmaker is by far the better cutter of the two (ZT-style fat wedge on the 0454 vs thin hollow grind on the Rainmaker).

That blade contour looks to have some great slicing abilities with serious precision capabilities and the handle scales are just dripping with eye appeal. What a great combination of eye catching elegance and functionality.

It's a surprisingly good cutter for a big knife, thanks to a deep enough hollow grind to make it quite thin at the edge. I'm partial to skinny handles on big knives, for the ease of carry, but too often the short blade height combined with thick blade stock yields knives with fat wedges at the edge. And yes, it's very pretty, though I love it too much to leave it in a drawer, so the blade and pocket clip are dinged up in places.
