EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

I’m 6’6” with XL hands and long fingers, so I’ve never enjoyed using a small fixed blade without a nice set of scales...arthritis acts up and my hands will start to fatigue. The TKC scales turned my Izulas from a knife I rarely used, to some of favorite fixed blades. The Izula II w/their G-10 is my go to smaller fixed when outdoors.

*and congrats on the new knife, I love my Bradford G3 in M390. Fantastic knife
Thank you my friend ! I respect your need for scales on this gnecker:)
That’s one of many things about our passion for knives is one size doesn’t fit all. For me being 5’6” and a lean 140 soaking wet lol . I prefer a lighter knife although have many that are on the porker side and don’t have a problem with those either. This particular model though scratches my itch just the way it is. With that being said I can understand why you might prefer covers/scales on this one

I had lost my Luna Real Steel for a few days and was feeling depressed, but found it when we moved the couch while cleaning earlier. I must have fallen asleep and dropped it the other night.
Also I scored Josh's Ese JG3 I'd been eyeing today when he ordered a new knife hes been wanting. What a wonderful day!20200418_181714.jpg

Only two modern knives I own :) I'm new to the whole knife game.

Welcome sir, you've come to the right place. I started here with a hand full of chinese Kershaws and now have graduated to the production realm. to each his own, that's what makes this place great.... any knife from $20 to 22k is a welcome conversation. I still carry my Leeks from time to time, usually in a dress event situation but lately i've been carrying my UTX70 instead.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I really want a knife for more heavy use, the leek just dosint cut the mustard for me. Was thinking of saving up and getting a spyderco manix 2 LW.

The manix LW is fantastic and one of my favorites. I own one in s110v that gets carried often but BD1N is a fairly nice steel also thats still easy to sharpen and takes a keen edge. Cant go wrong with a Spyderco and while leeks and SAKs are fine (i own several of both) you will notice a nice jump in quality as well. The ball lock had a nice action too. I would say for harder use though you may want to consider the G10 manix 2. The skeletonized liner versions are only about an oz heavier than the LW at a little over 4 oz. Be sure to post some pics and welcome to BF!

I've tried to get in to Spyderco, haven't quite found my niche. I will say the GB2 and the Spydiechef are both awesome looking knives, smock 20cv was in my cart and I decided against it. I still kind of regret that decision. I just haven't made the plunge, to each their own, they make great knives... I'm more of a buy once cry once kind of guy and the GFN is not in that zone. I'm sure there are plenty of Spyderco to satisfy any need, I don't you think you can go wrong. also the resale value is pretty good so you aren't without recourse.

I'm kinda limited as to what knives I can buy, as where I live (new zealand) there's not alot of places to buy knives from. And I really like checking them out in person so I can get an idea of the size etc etc.

hows the 10mm? I've always wanted one of those beauties!

I've been a 10mm devotee for a long-time, and I think it's definitely a premier-caliber. The chambering has a wide disparity in power-levels, depending on your application. It's a great flat-shooting round. Excellent for stopping interloping-zombies, or wayward hogs on-the-prowl. I shoot-it in both revolver, and on the 1911 platform. If your used to the Colt-Browning System, you'll love the extra-power the ten delivers. Depending on your wallet; there are a number of great makers: Springfield, Dan Wesson, Kimber, and Remington. Les Baer, and Ed Brown make custom-versions as does STI. The SIG 10mm is definitely a beast!

Ya i've looked at the PM7 in 10mm and I've seen a few others, I have yet to shoot one though.
