EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Giving the Skinny a second chance.
And yes, I took this picture on the toilet.

Is that a Battle blue Skinny, if you find don't you don't like it hit me up. I've been looking for a battle blue and a battle black skinny.

I'm rocking my skinny sheepsfoot today waiting for my skinny skinner to arrive in the mail. Got one of the Covid 19 skinny skinners that Rick himself worked on. Pretty stoked on this one.

As much as I didn’t like the look of the factory Bugout...this one always has me wanting it. Haha. Or one like it. Its a beauty. Hit me up when you get bored of it. ;)

I started out this morning with an old friend for Carbon Fiber/Framelock Friday and shot these pics over in front of the woodshop just before getting into the truck.

I headed up to PTown to work alone, laying out all the cutting in the several overhangs to run the drain piping for the roof deck scuppers I just finished installing. I figured I'd take my new Hap40/Pakkawood pair along to play with and break in a bit while I ate lunch. I wrapped em up in an old CRK cloth and put a rubber band around them, but when I went to get them and my lunchbox they were not to be found. J looked around the house for them when I called in a slight panic, but I did finally find them where they'd slid under something in the truck.

I finished up mid-afternoon and had time to make mail-call. As I mentioned earlier in the week, I'd promised myself a new mid-tech but couldn't find any one of the several that interested me with most makers shut down, so I bought the Spydie pair and then found this one on the Exchange. I'd always wanted to try out the full-size Vallotton Sub-Hilt so I grabbed this one at a reasonable price. I'm really not sure how I feel about it. It is a monster, with a super-thick blade, really fat handle, and weighing in at a brick-like 6+ oz. On the other hand, it's a really interesting, different design with a lot of great detail and unusual features and I do like big knives. I'm already wondering about a possible re-grind. I'll play with this one a bit and see what comes of it.

I have no idea, but I don't think so. As far as I know it's just a run of the mill DLT blue skinny.

I must admit, getting 3rd party scales for my Bugout never really interested me much. I am completely satisfied with the Grivory and see no real use for spending as much as the knife again to make it "stiffer". However, now that certainly gives me pause. I really like the way those scales look.

I swapped my bugout scales w some Flytanium jade G10. The stockers were ok but I do like the added texture, slightly thicker handle, and rigidity, not to mention it looks much nicer also. They are very affordable at only 40 shipped and only added maybe half oz.

Love the Recon 1. I finally picked up the standard all black version this past year. It is my go to beater knife that I know will handle anything.

....and that satin blade looks sharp!!

Thanks their satin has a nice almost polished look to it and seems to be less common on the recons. I love how CS does the liner less G10 and they are definitely very capable knives. You would think owing 4 variations of it i would carry them more. My favorite are the older versions with the hollow grind in XHP personally and finally acquired one not too long ago before this satin one. They are hard to beat for the price point!
