EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

USPS did finally come through for me today, although somewhat haltingly, as it took a second trip to my local PO for them to come up with my package this afternoon despite it showing as "Delivered to PO Box" late this morning. I finally have my Monterey Bay Knives, Gerry McGinnis designed Sprocket, bought off the Exchange, as a companion to my McGinnis ProLine Valve.

MBK, founded by Ray Laconico and Sanford Owen, produces American designed knives built in China at extremely favorable price points for the quality of both materials used and overall F&F. The Amercian made Valve is definitely a more substantial and refined piece, but the Sprocket is not all that far behind in quality nor does it seem particularly lacking in any regard. It's a smaller knife than the Valve--3.375" vs 3.625" blade and 4.5" vs 4.8125" handle-- as well as being considerably lighter at about 3.5 oz vs about 5 oz, though some of that is due to the all CF show side of the smaller piece.

I'm pretty pleased with this new mid-sized blade and it's growing on me the more I handle it. This one came to me basically brand new and is a smooth snappy flipper that disengages easily and free-drops closed. I like the recurved, M390 blade with its high, flat grind and clip point with swedge. Here' a couple side-by-sides with the Valve and some solo shots as well.

Mail call ! I’ve had a handful of X18 3.5’s over the years but never had the Harpoon Spanto and FDE scales either. I missed the last drop at The Big box dealers and did some digging and found one dealer that still had a nice selection left And glad I didn’t hesitate because they were going fast . So anyway snapped it up and couldn’t be happier this harpoon spanto really seems to fly out with Authority and it’s pretty darn sexy. Wish I could give the dealer props but their not a BF dealer. They sent me a great example and even though I choose standard USPS shipping and not one of the upgraded shipping options they sent it to me One day priority   Oh and got a 10.00 discount just for opening a account with them as a new customer! Yup I’ll be back!
Well time to flip the clip and add a 2019 filler tab I have in my hinderer stash box :D to get ready for tomorrow’s carry . Guess I better make dinner to lol it’s funny how all the excitement of a new knife can take priority:)

I also really like how when you choke up using the finger choil for more controlled cuts you can rest your thumb on the ledge of harpoon. So comfortable!
