Basketballs have lives that go full circle much like people. When I get a new order, like I did today, they come smaller--deflated and collapsed for ease of shipping. Here's a new ball, fresh out of the wrapper, ready to inflate along with with my DLC DigiCam Millie, out for opening bags.
After a ball has given up its best years to the kids in my club, it reaches its end--won't hold air, loses its bounce, balance, or cover torn, frayed, or slick. Every year I have to throw out several users plus there are always those that have hung around too long. Much easier to get 'em to the dump collapsed the way they came.
I'll use something like my RAT for the job, though, as there's some serious tacky adhesive between the bladder and the shell.
