So while I was a bit disappointed that my Swiss Border Guard was kinda slow out the dealer's door at three full business days, I was pleased to see it on its last, local leg early this morning, over the bridge on its way to my PO. I pocketed my StarTac today as it's also an all-Ti knife of similar size with a harpoon blade and picked up the Klotzli around mid-day while running a few errands around town.Mako109 's third pic at his previous post shows his StarTac and Starkosi to be really close in size to the SBG and indeed its blade and the 'Zaan's are about as identical in length as they could be.

I'm really pleased with the knife for overall quality, F&F, appearance, and fit in hand. The blade grinds and polished stonewash finish are outstanding and it came out of the box with a wicked sharp, consistent, and refined factory edge. While some have mentioned some initial stiffness to the action, I didn't find it too bad as it flicked out fairly easily on the first try. I didn't quite free drop on release, though, even after a couple drops of oil, so I backed the pivot off just a few degrees and re-tightened in tiny increments. Now it closes freely just like a broken-in AXIS lock knife and is still dead-centered with no blade play
I do have a couple nitpicks about the knife which I'll take a little time to digest before sharing, but I'm quite happy with my new acquisition. AsSharp & Fiery suggested, it is indeed right up my alley.

Congratulations for the the new job, and great CRK.For a little over two years I have been looking for a school administrator job. I have applied to over 100 available and have interviewed for several. I have been offered a couple jobs but none of them have been a good match. Finally, when I was beginning to lose hope, I found what appeared to be the perfect job. After a couple interviews they offered me the job!! I immediately accepted the job offer and what I thought was a fair salary. Apparently though they reconsidered.......and decided I was worth more to them, so they offered me an additional $10k over the amount we already agreed to. So...... I decided to treat myself to my first CRK.

Great looking one, i know someone that's is currently craving for one. How's the F&F on the Border Guard? So while I was a bit disappointed that my Swiss Border Guard was kinda slow out the dealer's door at three full business days, I was pleased to see it on its last, local leg early this morning, over the bridge on its way to my PO. Really? Does that sorry little strand of paracord with a crimped piece of metal on it look like one of my lanyards?Excellent. I see you have put a lanyard on it...means its a keeper?
I’m curious to your nitpicks, as I have a couple too, which is the reason I don’t own one yet.
I wouldn't have messed with the clip screws if I hadn't been asked for advice on the bit size, glad I did though.Really? Does that sorry little strand of paracord with a crimped piece of metal on it look like one of my lanyards?SBG's all come with that pathetic blue tail.
Anyway, the thing that got me almost right away is the detent resistance is kinda weak when closed and if one is not careful when pulling the knife out of pocket, the prominent thumb studs well away from the handle can catch on the inner seam and partially open the blade. I already poked myself on the sharp, pointy tip and am currently wearing a bandaid on my right middle finger. Of, course, now that I know I'll be more mindful and likely won't injure myself again. I do have other knives that can open similarly.
The other thing is the screws. They look more like hex sockets with the corners relieved than Torx, but after using a WS2.5 metric hex to loosen the pivot with force and having it gall a bit, I tried both Torx Plus, which didn't fit at all, then T8, which was a nice snug fit for both the pivot and body screws, but the receivers seem to lack the inner engagement lobes. I can't find anything to fit the stupidly tiny clip screws. Is there some type of Euro screw I'm unfamiliar with?
Despite my nitpicks, I do expect it is a keeper. I have other knives that I like very well despite a flaw or two and don't ever really think of unloading them. After all, nothing's perfect anyway and the attitude that something should be so just 'coz it cost x amount strikes me as nonsensical. While it is "right up my alley" it also has some interesting features different than my other knives and is overall a very well made and striking piece.
