For Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery on an SBG Sunday. This is more like it, no?

With the knife a bit more broken in and tuned up, I'm finding the button lock action to be so similar to the best of my AXIS lock BMK's, easily flickable and effortlessly free-dropping. I was tempted to crack it open to get the grease out that seems to be prevalent in a lot of knives from across the pond, but with it running well after two drops of NanoOil and a slight loosening of the pivot I'll leave well enough alone for now.

The AXIS lock similarity also extends to the care needed when removing from pocket to avoid inadvertent partial opening due to spring-dependent detents. Having shared my nitpicks, I'm curious about yours that have held you back from picking one of these up.

I was a fan when these were first released but the price and steel choice held me back.
Fast forward a few experiential years and my supersteel blades just languish in their storage packs with steels like N690, 154CM, VG-10, etc getting preferential carry due to my usage needs.
Sharpens to a crazy level and easily maintained with a strop, which I do after every use is what I've found to work for me.
So I finally pulled the trigger on the SBG, been in my pocket every day since I got it.
The hydraulic action and the fact it doesn't fall shut are a positive for me, my Freeman 451 was too drop shut and bit me a few times as a result...I miss it sometimes though.
I went with copper this week.:)

Now that’s a Chazzy fob!! :cool::D

We have similar nitpicks. My biggest nitpick is the detent being light and having the tendency to bite me when retrieving from pocket.
Secondly, the blade is a touch long for my liking in regular grip, but I could always choke up onto the sharpening/forward finger choil. So not a super big deal.
Thirdly, for some reason the point between the two finger choils seems to bite into my hand awkwardly...same with the Inkosi. :( It saddens me.
And lastly, it seems off weight to me. Not sure if your fob helps even it out.
So no real dealbreakers, but too many nitpicks. I’ve found that if I have too many nitpicks, I’ll never carry that particular knife...hence the hesitation to buy.

I’m so happy for all you folks whose hand it does fit properly, and I’m a little jealous. ;)

Funny how it is with the latest & greatest alloys, as what's passe today was yesterday's supersteel. I do like some of those newer variants and some are not much trouble to sharpen, but I really do appreciate what wicked keen edges those like 154CM and 440C can take with very little effort.

Interesting how our preferences for the SBG diverge as I promptly tuned mine up to flick out easily and free-drop closed like an AXIS knife while you prefer the more deliberate hydraulic action similar to a CRK. I do like both feels and actions, though, and have a pretty fair number of each in my stupidly large accumulation.

BTW, that's a really sweet week's carry you picked out this time around.:cool:

One of the few actually useful features of the style of lanyard (tail, fob, whatever) that I employ is being able to easily pull the knife from pocket whilst seated. That's about the worst thing one can do with the SBG, as I ended up with a hole in my finger and later almost made one in my leather chair. (My finger will heal--my chair, not so much.). Fortunately, with plenty of knife showing above pocket, a feature I tend to favor anyway, it's easy to extricate this one with the middle finger on the blade spine and that's now a habit for this knife.

I wasn't originally a fan of multiple finger coils on knife handles and had a couple early on that I moved on from as they were poor fits. When CRK introduced the 25 I kinda wrinkled up my nose at it as the 21 was such a great fit for my hand. When I finally picked one up I was surprised at how good it felt and presently have a different 25 and 2 Inkosi's to boot. The SBG fits me just great and it's too bad the CRKs and Klotzli aren't right for you.

Lastly, the balance thing hadn't occurred to me with the SBG, though it's remarkable that a 3.75"-bladed, all-Ti knife weighs in at barely over 4 oz. It's seriously milled out, and while I do appreciate the lightness in some regards I also don't dislike those of mine that are more substantial, even a bit butt heavy, as they add a sense of sureness to the grip and don't feel like they'll come flying out of hand.

I am a old gerber 7223 fan , 440c or Vascowear steel
Spyderco gin-1 /g2 and Aus8
Case CV or older 1089 carbon or D2

Some of the new “ super steel “ is nice but sometimes we are chasing the dragons tail on knife steel,
Example when CRK 1st turned out the S35v stuff the heat treatment was unreliable and soft flat spots were a problem, and still are when some safe queens are sold
