EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Had to buy a molecular transformer this morning if I have any chance of recovering 3 units today with a 113 degree high.

Howdy baby brother - mine is #0722.
Haha that's pretty cool and they are not far off from each other, mine being #759 and was probably at the back of the line that day behind yours lol. I do love the no swedge and your 13 looks to be in pretty nice condition still for a 16 year old blade. I don't think EKI has done a run of the 13 in several years so always nice to see some in the wild! I do have another oldie, a 2004 CQC-8 with no swedge and the silver ceramic finish blade that is still all original and in pretty nice shape for its age. Definitely my two favorite Emerson models of the 6-7 ive owned. There is just something badass about a big ol' Emerson!

Des Horn front flipper

Wow, that’s a beauty! Gonna have to do a little research tonight, lol.

Edit: we’ll, it doesn’t look as though I’ll be stumbling upon one of those anytime soon. Absolutely gorgeous knives, but they appear to be pretty rare and a wee bit outside of my comfort zone. Ugh, kinda wish I hadn’t seen that now. Gonna be an all-consuming fantasy keeping me awake at night, lol.

Looks like a Des Horn custom. Heh, that certainly wasn't inexpensive, I can tell you that. Absurdly gorgeous though!

He does make some nice pieces. I've seen them occasionally priced in the $500-1000 range for the more basic models. I'll send ya a PM with the dealer name.

Unable to decide between an M390 or a Micarta Monday, I figured why choose? and doubled up with my Giant Mouse Ace Biblio. This is a solid small knife with excellent action, a couple grip options with it's forward finger choil (which could stand to be be a taste larger), and is quite a good little cutter/slicer with its broad HFG blade.

I bought this one at a fair price off the Exchange not long after the model was first released. The original Natural Micarta version was a numbered, limited run which came at a premium price and was later released as an unserialized production knife at a considerably lower price--a business model which I find annoying. At least I didn't pay full retail for it despite my outlay being higher than GM's subsequent pricing for the same knife new.

Regardless, I made good use of it today, opening packaging and cutting foam while installing a window AC unit in our top-floor spare room. Needing a sill-spacer, I also employed my latest set of Fuller screw-start/counter-sinks with their handy hex-shanks which enable me to employ just a single impact driver instead of having to use that and a threaded chuck drill as I did with my older, plain-shanked set which I've had for the better part of thirty years. The fine-pointed, tapered bits were also excellent for starting all the tiny screws into the sill and sash.
