EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

The knife is a carothers kephart.

The super special someone hiding in the background is Robin. She is a gray fox. Don't expect many pictures with her though, she is very shy!
If I didn't already have a Becker/Kabar Kephart, I would have one of those. I like the one I have just fine though. So there is that.

Tell Robin we said hello.

Well, the Amalgam didn't last long in my pocket.

Removed and replaced it with (believe it or not) a 2nd (XXXX) version of the Ken Onion designed Kershaw Blackout 1550ST that I bought from The Kershaw Guy years ago and I still had lying around after selling off what I thought was all of my cheaper Kershaws on EB about 6 months ago.

Put the Blackout in my pocket because I was going to the hospital for a procedure that would require me to store my stuff in a locker and didn't want to allow for any possibility of losing a more valuable knife.

Didn't replace the Blackout w/the Amalgam again in my pocket after the hospital visit because I found that the CF lam scales did not pull smoothly from my pocket and because the knife (closed) is so long that I had a problem placing my finger on the flipper upon extraction.

So, guess what? I decided to put to my tried and true Advocate back in my pocket. Slim/smooth Ti frame/scales makes easy to carry/withdraw from my pocket and it's the perfect size for my hand when I draw and fip it upon extraction.

Truly, if I could only 1 Spyderco (or knife for that matter), I would have no hesitation choosing the Advocate.

Just got back from my folks’ house in Hood River, Oregon, where a friend hooked me up with a (large!) box of fresh crop Pippins… my absolute favorite apple. Then, this Bestech Platypus showed up today. Oh man do I love this knife. Great action, ergos and blade. First thing to use it on? What else!…

Not familiar with the Pippins variety…what’s it similar to, if you don’t mind?
