EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Nice looking knife! It looks like a lockback?

I was gonna leave early to get a blood test--damn, I hate having to go out before coffee--and had to rush out even quicker to meet my roofer at a job to load yesterday's surprise red cedar shingle delivery into the client's barn. We were lucky to get them at all as we were both on waiting lists for material that's tripled in price over the last couple years and is all but unavailable. By the time I finished two trips there and at the lab it was mid-morning and I was way overdue for my morning cuppa and constitutional.:thumbsdown:

Anyway, with all the mostly unplanned charging around I ended up with the same knife in pocket as yesterday, which is fine as it's a great blade that served me well for a couple cuts along the way today. I shot these when I found a little leisure later in front of our big, gnarly Eastern White Cedar against the background of the small wetland that spans our side-by-side lots here on Cape.

An epic hike with the kid and dog with most likely my favorite EDC (unless of course I've said that before about other knives in the past...🤪)20220105_123926.jpg20220105_111828.jpg

The stream flowing through a redwood...20220105_113130.jpg

Quite possibly the largest coastal redwood (Sequioia sempervirens, not to be confused with giant sequioias, Sequoiadendron giganteum) south of Monterey, maybe even San Francisco. The guy who bred our goats lived in it for years... that's a true story. There was one larger in Julia Pfeiffer Burns S.P. on the Ewoldsen Trail but it blew over in the huge winter of 2017. I know some Santa Cruz folk would want to challenge me on this! 0452 stabbed into tree.20220105_114317.jpg
Edited to increase resolution on that fat redwood and to add 'or even San Francisco,' because it's true.

That's a treasure to hang on to. I'm 73 years old and still have what is probably the ugliest, most lop-sided, colorful, coffee mug ever made around here somewhere, that my daughter made for me in grade school. :)
Yea I’m pretty happy about it. He’s bought me some coffee mugs before, I baby them to make sure they don’t get broke.

Can you drink out of that mug she made?
What a thoughtful and sweet gift. As said before, it would make a great carry, even if not used much, during times you are out with your son.

Here's what is in my pockets today.

Thank you. It’s pretty special for sure. I have no problem taking a CRK straight out on a job site but I’d have a breakdown if I broke that one ha

Well, it holds liquid, but the top is kinda lopsided. I used it a few times after she gave it to me, but it's been packed away in the attic for years. She's 52 now & her oldest daughter started college this year. Time flies.

Carrying these two today.

I really love the size of the utx8, it’s the perfect size for edc. As for the Socom elite there not much I can say that hasn’t been said. One of my favorite folders ever.

Socom Elite (Manual) is my favorite folder. It’s the only one I can’t get rid of. Did it once and regretted instantly. Bought back within 3 days!
