EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

You got a reaction
You got a reaction didn't, you?
You took a white orchid

Decided to pocket a small 31 for a gloomy and wet Wednesday.

It was just one of those days when every time I’d ask myself… “Self, should we get our lazy ass off the couch and go do something productive?”….Self would answer with a decisive “Efffff no!”

And who am I to argue with the voices in my head? It seems like they always win anyway.

I have different names for the voices in my head which varies depending on their request 😁
Beautiful knife Brother !!

Well, the predicted Nor'Easter has arrived and is every bit as intense as forecasted, despite my earlier assertion that at least half these sorts of events turn out to be nothing much at all. I spent yesterday getting things around home ready--securing loose outdoor objects, covering up here and there, and bringing in enough firewood to get the Russian fireplace warm ahead of any power outages. The afternoon was spent moving a bit more gear into my client's finished basement before starting the work there, picking up the stock for the couple walls I'll build, getting it inside, and doing a bit of setting up and organizing there. The access is really poor and I wanted be be ahead of whatever accumulated snow and ice might complicate getting going Monday.

Anyway, it was Foreign Framelock Flipper Friday with my Turtle in pocket, but I neglected to get any fresh pics as I made dozens of trips back-and-forth and up-and-down, so I'm carrying my F95 again today, secure inside our home with the storm raging outside, and shot a couple pics in front of the back deck slider. I'm hoping we luck out and keep our power this time around as I'm not looking forward to having to drag out the generator for lights and fridge with all the nasty wind and snow out there.

Edit: Me and my big mouth--the power went out partway through writing here, we trundled through the snow, got the little generator going and the cord in the window, with the fridge, a couple lights, and surge protectors hooked up. The camp stove is set up on the kitchen range, the Russian fireplace is warm and getting warmer, and we have our town water heated by propane, so we're ok now and I'm typing away on my laptop using my phone for a hotspot. We're not entirely warm and toasty but it's still way nicer in here than it is looking out through the back door.

I'm taking this one with me on a little 4 hour road trip today. I'm driving over the Cascade Mountains to pick up two amplifiers that I had repaired by a local amp repairman.

This is one that my parents just sent me from my old collection. It is a really sweet knife and has had kind of a rough life. The previous owner did a reshaping of the micarta handle and left it really rough and not nice at all. I did my own reshaping to fix his mistakes and make things blend together better and keep the finish as even as possible. It's a custom, but I cannot for the life of me remember who the maker is or what the model is called. If anyone has any information please let me know! The only maker's mark is a simple "B" stamped on the side of the blade.

Edit: I'd like to find someone local one of these days to do a quick re-beadblasting of the micarta for that grippy soft texture I love so much.

Nice! Pleased to meet you my fellow Washatonian. I'm heading east from Kent to Ellensburg. Should be a nice drive. I drove there a month or two ago to drop the amps off and got caught in a hell of a white out going over the pass. I really wasn't as prepared as I usually am too. Right now I'm packing some tools, extra oil, extra belt, all that emergency type stuff to throw in the back of the 2000 Cherokee. She runs like a top but I'm not getting stuck on top of that mountain!
