Just to be clear, are you saying you prefer the ZT to the Firetac? I admit the 0640 caught my eye, though I wasn't sure how the action is. That would save me money and time.I was going to make this a Thin Thursday with my new Cheburkov Frieze and its 3.37mm blade that's 0.3mm TBE, but saw your post and went with my Firetac instead.
I bought this on the Exchange and it came with the wrong TriWay kit, unbeknownst to the good member I bought it from who received it that way from AZCK. I ordered a new kit right away from RHK as I wanted to try the BBs instead of the PB washers that were installed when I received it. I've had it since last October, but have yet to change the pivot as this is close to the smoothest freest PB pivot knife I've handled. I like ball bearing pivots too and have lot lot BB flippers.
I'm not a hater studs as you are, and am quite new to thumb disc knives, but find I like it a lot. This one has, among other add-on mods, a Monster thumb disc which likely makes this a taste easier to deploy as I had added the same upgrade to the ZT0640 I sold after picking up this Firetac--a somewhat similar knife which I much greatly prefer.

I don’t know how y’all keep up with the “knife themed “ days of the week…I’m doing good if I get the day correct periodPosting late here for Wooden Wednesday with my HAP40 Endura posed on the side of our now-empty Woodshed.

Before I uploaded that post, I wondered if that last sentence would be confusing, but re-reading now, though I did get my antecedents right, I guess it was. I very much prefer the Firetac to the ZT. Like you, the 0640 caught my eye, I ordered the pre-anodized/re-scaled Micarta version from Whitty, and the Monster disc and MXG clip before I even had the knife. It was a nice specimen but I honestly found it surprisingly underwhelming despite seeing so many attractively upgraded and modded versions in these pages.Just to be clear, are you saying you prefer the ZT to the Firetac? Well I guess I better start saving. My pocket book just took a $40k+ plus hit with the new car...Before I uploaded that post, I wondered if that last sentence would be confusing, but re-reading now, though I did get my antecedents right, I guess it was. I find the Firetac to be a substantial step up from 0640, just as I find any RHK to be a step up from any similar Hinderer-designed ZT, though I mean no slight to any of the members here who very much like Rick's KAI collaborations. The action on the 0640 was OK, but the action on my PB-washered Firetac is outstanding and I have no doubt that it would be amazingly free and fast on BBs as are my two RHK Skinny's.
