Sporting basic black today, nice.I have more than a few candidates for Throwback Thursday but I so often come back to this one, my D2 user 710, rescued from an abusive owner, lovingly re-habbed, and modded with standoffs. I've had five, gifted one to my middle son, sold one as the combo edge didn't float my boat, and kept this baby, another the same but like new and completely stock, and my M390 -1401 with holey Ironwood scales. Just one of the best knives ever....

Awesome colors! Both the nature and the knives.Just got my pics up from yesterday. Hiked about 11 miles, up to an alpine lake that sits around 4,600ft, with plenty to enjoy along the way.
The trail starts off fairly easy, hiking through forest until you get to the first creek crossing.

Soon after things open up, and you start heading up

Just under halfway through, you reach a nice set of waterfalls

Up close at the falls. It's surprising how many people don't find the little hidden trail that leads into here, and only view them from afar. We come here fairly often, and many times this is our destination, but today I decided to head to the lake above. It's a great place to stop and cool down though, and today I figured it made sense to go ahead and break my fast here even though at this point it was only around 10:30 (I usually wait until closer to noon).

Now the real hike begins, onward to the lake
I used my Swisstool for something new this day. There was a branch of particularly plump salmonberries just out of reach over the ledge of the trail that I couldn't resist. I was able to grab the branch with the pliers without putting myself in danger. Turns out it wasn't really necessary though, as there were plenty of berries at higher altitude, including enough huckleberries to have my fill at the lake.

Up at the lake. Had a snack (aforementioned berries and bison jerky), took a quick cold plunge (something I've been forcing myself to do, not easy as a Florida boy), and relaxed for a bit drying off on the rocks. Then I went exploring around the lake, including the smaller upper lake that feeds it.

Just had to hit the falls again on the way back down. Spent even more time there this time, climbing down down to see the other falls and pools.

All in all a great day, as they always are out here

Dat ones nice.
Thanks! I can't lie, as soon as I saw this release I knew I had to get it particularly to take to some of these lakes, and I often purposely choose it to carry on lake hikes. Plus, the Manix LW truly is a great all-around knife. I wish Spyderco would release more of them in translucent colors, I'm honestly not sure if I could resist any color of them.Awesome colors! Both the nature and the knives.
