Yeah, I know where you're at about having hard time setting the SERE aside--just too much old school goodness there.
The fasteners are a little bit challenging, starting with the pivot which takes a 2.5 mm hex bit (my Wiha curiously marked
SW 2.5, not with the more standard
M). Once I'd identified that, suspecting it was metric due to its Japanese manufacture, I had to order a set of micro-bits for the microscopic scale screws as I had nothing below 1.5 mm. I definitely needed a magnifying glass to even confirm the socket shape. Those little babies are 1.3's, the 5-piece, short-handled set I ordered coming 2 down to 0.7 mm. The tiny Phillips clip screws got my Wiha Precision slotted/Phillips set out and, while I originally used a PH0, I find its more common PH1 a more positive fit, though I suspect that one, more closely machined and less worn, would be better than those that have been been banging around in my toolboxes and bags.
Well, as long as I got it out to check I might as well carry it today.
