It's actually a ball on a power line. In Alaska any lake big enough has float planes, that's so they don't fly into the power line. You pay great attention to detail, it was very small in the picture.

Standoffs pix?There was a bit of Barrage de-assisting chatter here the other day and I was reminded of it this morning looking through my knife drawers for today's carry so I grabbed my 581. I've got a 585 too, but have left that one alone as it was a gift from my wife. It didn't take me long to get the spring out the 581 after picking it up on the Exchange. Never did care much for AO knives.
Along the way I removed the lock and backspacer, trading the latter for simple standoffs, changed the bolster screws to black, and did the same with the thumb studs which I received comped from BMK after asking if they were available for sale. The M390 blade has taken a wicked keen edge and I'd carry this baby more if I didn't have so many damn knives.
