EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

This collecting thing is hard. How the hell do you all decide what to carry? This is my third different knife just today!

I just had that same thought tonight, as I changed out my right back pocket knife for the 3rd time today. Sh*t's getting real and I need to focus on what I want most, instead of trying out everything new that is out there just to play with something new. I have so many cool knives, but I just cannot carry them all. I'm an idiot.

I often carry 3 knives + a Swiss Army each day. My weak side left front pocket is almost always an OTF - either Shootout, UTX-85, or Recon 035 (but I own multiples of each of those).

The right front and right back pockets usually get their knives rotated more often; but for the past few months my right front pocket choices seem to be stuck between 3 of them - my small PJ Sebenza 31, small Damascus Spartan SHF, or Ochs Worx Solarstorm for light duty and clean use. The front right was where I also carried some of my favorite traditional knives in a sheath, until more recently.

My right back pocket is usually my one-handed opening heavy duty, hard work, or dirty knife; but lately I have mostly been going back to my XM-18 or my Manix 2 S110V David Mary regrind. Today I had my Rockstead Shin, and my Benchmade Narrows in there and well, but ended the day with the XM-18 again.

I love collecting cool knives, cheap and expensive alike - but I just gave away 8 budget knives last week to my son's friends that I never carried (Kershaw, CRKT, Gerber, Civivi). And I could probably sell another 50 and not miss them. Why do I have 6 XM-18 and 5 small Sebenza 31, or 4 PM2 and 4 Para 3, blah blah?

I may try to slim down to no more than 2 each of my favorites (user, safe queen, maybe a spare 3rd for a few), and ditch many of the less important knives entirely. I love my new Kizer Original with Ti frag pattern scales, but why do I have 2 Kizer Assassin in red and green micarta and now a new Kizer Assassin XL in green micarta and a Kizer Spot? I don't need 5 different CJRB Pyrite all in different scales shapes and colors (3 in Ti, 2 in steel). Sheesh!

I'm going to especially make it a point to rotate my right front pocket knives more often, and give things like my Hermans and Shirogorovs, or my Arno Bernards and other CRK's more pocket time. My Umnumzaan and large Inkosi deserve more back pocket time.

Doc your collection would paralyze me! I was a mess with 100 Buck folders that were all mostly the same, I can’t imagine yours. I know exactly what you mean though as thats why I never let myself go past two these past years.
I am at 7 CRK now and I carry them all. I don’t own a safe or shelf any longer and I’m not gonna let myself need one!
I hope you find your balance.
