EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

The new-to-me Cheburkov Scout arrived today. Many thanks to our friend mb> mb> for PMing and offering it to me ahead of listing it on the Exchange. This one sorta balances things between the Shiro and Cheburkov wings of my Russian drawer as I now have two F95's and two Scouts, models which I consider analogous between the two makers' offerings. Both are Ti frame lock flippers on BBs, similarly shaped and sized, and are more or less the flagship offerings from each workshop.

For my part, the Turtle is the more basic and heftier of my two Shiro F95s--SRBS with no interior milling and 4 mm M390 blade stock, while on the other hand featuring extensive exterior milling. The F95R, in contrast, is MRBS, with considerable interior lightening, has 3.5 mm Vanax37 blade stock, but its handle slabs are only lightly milled on their exterior with a few undulating narrow lines and the knife is sometimes referred to as a Nudist.

The now parallel pair of Cheburkov Scouts consist of my orignal Pyramid model also with a 4 mm M390 blade, like the Turtle hefty with no interior milling but extensively decorated on its exterior. The new-to-me Scout, completing this pairing, is wicked light for a full Ti knife of its size at barely over 4 oz due to extensive interior milling, features a 3.5 mm thick blade of highly polished SS Damascus (Zladinox?), and yet is stone plain on its handle's exterior save for a Timascus clip and flamed half-backspacer.

This knife has been around the block as I'm the fifth known owner I'm aware of. I'm glad to have my turn with it, but must confess I had a hard time getting pics of it this afternoon, as the learning curve to fairly represent the highly polished Dama blade, plain, yet reflective handles, and dissimilar blue clip and backspacer is more than a little steep. I've still got a ways to go to match the success of our friend Officer's Match Officer's Match , another previous owner here, who shared many fine pics of the knife during his tenure with it.

Thanks, OM! I certainly will enjoy this one and plan to EDC it. I well remember our back and forth about it over at the Cheburkov Channel when you first got it and being so impressed with the blade grind--FFG and thin with a superfine point--aside from its handsome polished Dama stock.

When buying a knife off the Exchange I have a habit of dragging the sellers' pics into a folder in the Photos app on my Mac. This one was an "off-books" sale with just a few PM'd pics from mb> mb> , and I made a point to go back to the channel to retrieve most of what you'd posted there. As I noted yesterday, the knife is one tough photographic subject, but you've taken quite a few really fine shots of it. I especially like the one I left in the quote above.

As far as kicking yourself goes, well we all have those that we sold to fund something else. If you're like me, you not only wish you had that one back, but would still like to have the one you bought with the garnered funds, like having your cake and eating it too....
