I love stumbling onto brands I’ve never heard of before, so seeing that Mirage sent me right over to their website. Some very intriguing stuff. How do you like it?
What a great narrative! I’d be willing to wager that better than half of my collection was secured after the hesitation dissolved into a few bourbons. Like you, I look fondly on many reckless purchases: my MKM Goccia, James Brand Barnes and my custom Lil Native. They all come to mind with tickled berries! This MKM Viper Timavo LE was one of the first knives to really catch my eye when I stumbled into this bottomless rabbit hole. I think it was the fourth or fifth knife I purchased, and I remember going back to websites and pics I had saved, night after night drooling over the damn thing.
When the 100 that were made started slowly disappearing from inventories I remember getting all stressed out. Then I happened upon one that was on sale but still way more than I’d ever imagined spending on a knife. It was in my cart…..then aborted; in my cart….then aborted.
Two days of agonizing internal debate. Then an inadvertent dose of evening meds on an empty stomach miraculously relieved any lingering hesitation I’d been feeling and confirmed that I needed…not just wanted….the knife. Made clicking the “Checkout” button a breeze, and if I’m being honest it’s become my “Go-to” method for deciding whether or not to pull the trigger….which probably helps explain some of my choices.
Anyway, what I look for in a knife has changed quite a bit over the past few years and still shifts regularly. And while a lot of those “early” knives and impulsive buys don’t see much pocket time these days, this particular knife remains one of my favorites. I honestly can’t say that about a lot of my knives, but I still really, really dig this one.
Okay, I have absolutely no idea where I was going with this long-winded narrative but maybe some of you can relate. I guess my point (assuming I have one) is that occasionally ya’ find one that still tickles your berries long after the honeymoon.
Lol, my berries got tickled today.
