EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

This morning I put away a couple knives that had lingered on top of my tall knife cabinet for a couple days, and in the process opened the drawer below the top tier of my Benchmade box. This beauty all but jumped out into my hand as it's been more than a while too long since I've carried it. Y'all know my preference for long and pointy knives with plenty of handle real estate for my old, beat up mitts to hang onto. My Russian drawer is full of such cutlery, most of which originally retailed for 3-5 times more than this one would have in 2011.

Perhaps that's some justification for me having paid triple its original price last spring (read, shaky conclusion), though this 806-1101 was never on the market as it was a sample for handle finish of this exclusive model sent to Knifeworks for approval and, as the only one with uncoated G10 scales, it ended up in the collection of the guy that spec'd the knives for Roger. Regardless, an M390 satin AFCK had been a longtime grail for me and I'm just glad to have one to carry and use, regardless of its pedigree.

One model they should have kept in their lineup

Definitely agree with you on that, simple and perfect size small EDC. Although, I’m not a big fan of the grip tape style inlay of the original, but that’s easily fixed… Hey Benchmade Benchmade , can you bring back the 707 and give it a jillion scale options; we’ve all got enough Bugouts.

Yeah, yeah, yeah….I carried a knife today, whatever. The BIG NEWS is that the Damasteel seeds I bought from a guy on eBay a few months ago turned out to be legit!!!

Not gonna lie, I was a little worried for a bit. I think my wife kinda got in my head. She was soooo convinced that I was getting scammed. I mean, yeah….800 bucks for a small pack of seeds may seem a bit steep; but we’re talking home made Damasteel here and I just frikkin’ knew it would work. I’ve got awesome business sense when it comes to things like this.

Anyway, I’m not quite sure how I turn the leaves into steel now, but I sent the guy another $800 for those directions. He must be super busy though ‘cause I haven’t heard back from him in like three weeks.

By far the smartest $1,600 I ever spent.

And for the doubters, here’s the proof. Real Damasteel leaves:

I’m gonna be like a billionaire soon….but I won’t forget you guys.

I like my 707 and its particular blade, but Keyopp's right about the factory scales. I had a pair of DOAT CF's that came with one of the 705's I bought at the Benchmade Forum and they fit my Sequel perfectly.

On the other hand, I've always been partial to the not-long-lived 705 which was replaced by the aptly named Sequel, as it's a perfectly matched little brother to the classic 710.

Edit: Forgot to say, Keyopp Keyopp , those are sweet scales on your 707.
