EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

After sending off yesterday's red copper flashing re-do job I went back down to my basement sheetmetal shop after lunch to cut and fold the other 4 of 6 lead-coated copper slider pans for another builder/client. As those pans are 7.5-8 feet long and part of soldering the returns and their ends require they be standing upright, it's nigh unto impossible to finish them down there so I moved over to the carpentry shop with it's 9'-4" ceiling and open 14" wood I-joists above.

I stayed in Grip mode again today, but swapped out yesterday's 551-1702 for my large Rittilkins.

Carried an Cold Steel AD-15 for a couple of days. Liked the knife overall but didn't find it that comfortable to carry.

Thought the Cold Steel Code 4 would be better and I was right.

It's lighter, thinner and is easier to insert into and carry in my pocket w/its short, polished deep polished clip. The AD-15 is heavier, thicker and is more difficult to insert/remove from my pocket because of the texturing on the grip.

With a street price of around $80, the Code 4 is less than 1/2 the price of an AD-15 and is simply a much better value, which I would consider best used as an EDC and/or camp knife with its extremely sharp hollow ground blade. Mine is an earlier model using CTS-XHP steel; later versions are using S35VN instead.

I'd love to see them apply the scorpion lock to a code 4 style profile. The weight and thickness kept me from really enjoying the AD15 too.

After reading and replying to your post over at the Bears' Den the other day I see you now have a sweet-looking Turtle to show off. Very nice and welcome to Bear Country, brother. :)
Thank you for the help, it is appreciated. That was just the last hurdle to lead me to purchasing one. I’ve been looking at all of their different models and comparing them the last few weeks or so. The Turtle I would always come back to and I decided I prefer this model when compared to the others. I just love the look of it. I’m very happy. It’s smooth now, but I bet it will get even better with use and time.
