This pic makes me think subconcsiously its tip isnt as narrow as it is on native actually, because the visible part is what you react to, and it is more like tanto and this tanto is a really good, nice, not pointy one. That made this pic a great joy to watch. Why no factory cares to make a decent powerful strong reliable beautiful damn tanto already!?

I remember you’re not a big fan of CRK, but I can honestly say a CRK ‘zaan tanto meets most, if not all, your wishes for a tanto.. strong, reliable, beautiful (IMO their Umnum tanto grind looks great).

TGIF! I've been carrying this one all week and so far so good. It needs a small pivot adjustment but other than that it's nice, I love the wire clip.

After reading @Keyman and filtrum's discussion about this handle material, I got curious. Based on a little research, and my own knowledge of materials processing, I'm going to make an "educated" guess about how it's made. Why not, right? Everybody's wrong, on the Internet.

The micarta portion is scraps and ends from another process, that have been collected, instead of getting tossed in the waste bin. They lay these scraps in with the binder material, which forms the darker swirls. Then, it goes through the usual heat and pressure curing, probably in large billets.

Once it's been cured, they cut it into slabs, from a different angle.

Yeah.

Imagine this stuff comes out of the curing oven in neat cubes that are exactly 12" on a side. Now, gravity and pressure have sorted the scraps into layers, and if you run it straight into a saw, you'll see the layers of material.

But, if you rotate the cube 90 degrees (so that what was the bottom face of the cube is now the part that the saw cuts into first), you get a cross-section of the layers, possibly leading to the pattern you see here.

How do you like the Kapara? Ive Been eyeing that one.

I like it a lot! Its a lot bigger then my usual EDC knives (which is why I passed on it when it came out last year) but the slim design makes it actually a easy to carry in the pocket. The fit and finish is great and the action is very smooth. Still, a sub 3" version would be amazing!
