Throwback Thumb Stud Thursday! The Tangram Santa Fe was the best budget knife I'd encountered when it was released. It's still the best $25 knife I ever bought. The thin blade in Japanese Acuto 440 cuts like a dream, even though the grind on this one is slightly off. (I ended up giving away my first one to someone who had lost their knife. I later bought a bunch of them to give away as Christmas gifts and kept the one with the funky grind for myself. BTW, at least one of those ended up being someone's primary carry for over a year and only stopped because it fell out of their pocket somewhere in the woods.)

Thankfully, Kizer has revisited the concept of a budget line with their recent Laconic series in 9Cr18Mov. They aren't quite the same killer value but a lot has happened since Tangram shut down and the dollar isn't what is used to be. Still, the new Laconic series has a lot to offer under $50.

I remember carrying one of these for over a year before I fell deep into this hobby. It's a fantastic knife.

What a beauty. I stared at these for a good minute when they dropped. Kinda thinkin I shoulda got one now :/

Thanks for the comparison on these! I always knew the Mini was shorter but didn't even think about it being a smaller width as well. Now I want one even more!

I believe they’re still available should you change your mind 😬

Fountain pen Ink converter eye dropper gives a controlled tiny drop of oil right where wanted. Less mess and waist than directly from the bottle. "Food Grade" Hoppe's #9 gun oil lube.
"Food Grade" as in "There ain't enough on the knife to worry about."

Over the last 64 years I've lubed my knife joints with gun oil, 3 in One, 10W30 (fresh and "well used"), transmission fluid, (GM's Dextron/Dextron 2, and Ford "F" - fresh and used), hydrolic fluid, brake fluid, and WD-40/PB BLASTER/Lock De-Icer and Lube ... rarely olive oil/Vegi oil/Mineral Oil ... whatever I had available at the time.
No tummy and/or to exit problems. 😇👍
What little lube was on the blade did not change the flavor of the food, either.

I'll switch to the Case-Carhartt 63087 SS either tomorrow or Monday, if I switch the main/large Stockman to either the Imperial Frontier "Double Eagle" or the Ka-Bar 1109 I received a few days ago. (both equipped with stainless blades.)

Sneaky Saturday with a bit of a confession... I own a CobraTec😱 I've got to say, this new bolster release "Trapper" auto is a huge departure from their normal stuff and definitely will have me keeping more of an eye on them in the future...it's THAT good🤯

1996 Original Sebenza at work with me today.

These legacy knives have become rare and sought after but let’s not forget what they are, a great pocket knife. It’s a Saturday and I plan to spend most of the day in my office but if I find myself on the roof with a belt that needs cut I have the right tool in my pocket to do it.
