After seeing some of the new knives coming off his bench I decided to root through one of my temporary knife-storage boxes to find this one from (SA) maker Francois Massyn. It was in (and out) of my pocket all weekend.
On a side note, the contractor started dropping off a bunch of the cabinets for the place we’re renovating…..which was exciting, because once the cabinetry goes in we’ll be getting close. But then we noticed several cabinet boxes that just didn’t seem to make sense, regardless of how long we scrutinized them.
It eventually dawned on us that someone had transposed the depth and width measurements on an entire run of kitchen cabinets. Ugh.
We were hoping to be in by the end of November, but with a typical turn-around time on cabinets running 4-6 weeks we’re gonna be in a pickle if we can’t convince the maker to get a jump on these. The friend whose home we’re now staying in has family arriving for Thanksgiving, so our ninth move since May might be back into a hotel; not quite the holiday season “home warming” party we were anticipating.
Gotta love life’s little curve balls. In the grand scheme of things we’ve been extremely blessed, so I’m not complaining. Just offering a heads-up as to why my future posts may start sounding a little slurred at times. There’s a good chance I’ll be intentionally over-medicating myself as the holidays draw near, lol.
