Thank you to all my Blade Brothers and Sisters B-Day wishes meant a lot to me :)
Well it was a really great Birthday except when we got home since I couldn’t see it at the coast because of the fog I noticed what appeared to be some punk splashed a drink on the hood of my car it was like thin syrup 😤
Didn’t want it to soak in all night so washed my car which really wasn’t in the plans last night lol when we got home . But fortunately my better half understood lol. Also fortunately it all washed off so now she is safe tucked in the garage escaping a close call that could have been much worse .

I’m afraid to ask why you taped your grip if more then just for traction 😆 Last time I saw that done was in The God Father for finger prints 😳
If it’s 44 magnum I understand since my friend had one and came to work the next day after the range with a front site imprint on his forehead 🤣
Just for a Lil extra grip and I think it looks cool

Sticking with what’s easy to reach, this Mini Gold from JDVD has been in my pocket most of this week and throughout today’s Thanksgiving festivities.

Gotta say, I’m extremely thankful to (and for) all the wonderful friends who have opened their homes to us these past 6 months while our new digs are under construction. We had originally lined up a rental condo for the duration of our renovation, but several weeks into our occupancy we were informed that only unit owners were allowed to have pets on site. This came as a surprise to both us and the owners of the place we were renting, as we had noted our 10-lb Havanesse in the rental contract that had been approved by the board.

And yeah, I get it….rules are rules and they’re there for a reason; but what chapped me most about the whole thing was the fact that our dog wasn’t bothering anyone. She doesn’t bark, it was a pet-friendly community with tons of other dogs and the units on either side of us were vacant. It was some pump-a-grump condo-commando living four buildings away who went through the trouble of following us home one day, introducing themselves and striking up a conversation for the sole purpose of determining our status as owners/renters. She immediately reported us to the board, and by the following day we were informed that we had to vacate the property. Post haste, less the owners be fined in arrears for every day we had been there.

Like I said, I get it…..rules are rules, but sometimes can’t ya just frikkin’ look the other way? In a community of 120 condos that allows owners to have dogs it would never occur to me to question whether someone was an owner or a renter because I saw them out walking a dog. I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to track them down, particularly if they lived in a different area of the development. Heck, even if I had a problem with them I’d try and resolve it amicably, speak to them first and find out a little about their situation. I sure as shit wouldn’t go straight to the board and insist they be evicted immediately. But that’s just me, and I completely understand if you find yourself on the other side of that coin.

Anyway, I digress. We packed our cars that same afternoon and moved into a hotel for a week to regroup and figure out what to do next. Long-term rental condos were all booked by then and to rent a furnished, single-family home in our area we were looking at a minimum of $10k per month, so that option came off the table pretty damn quick. We spent two great weeks at our home in the Georgia mountains, but until we “retire in earnest” we rent that place out intermittently, so our time there was brief.

We came back to Florida and began taking friends up on offers to use their homes while they were still up north. What followed was a series of nine moves over five months that have seen us living out of suitcases and storage lockers while trying to manage two businesses and oversee a renovation. Two more weeks. Two more weeks and we should have four walls to call our own and be sleeping in our own bed again.

Would I do it again? Eff no. But this Thanksgiving I do have a little extra to be grateful for; kind and generous friends who’ve welcomed us into their homes without hesitation or a second thought, a wife with a great sense of humor and a contagious “can do” attitude…..and a little trooper of a pup named “Echo” who shows us every day that “home” is anywhere your family is.

Thanks for letting me share, and cheers to all the US members; hope you’re enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Thankful to have a happy and healthy family, and very grateful to the knife community for supporting my art and listening to my rambling😁 I hope everyone has safe travels and a great holiday! (The turkey air fryer is a Char-Broil "Big Easy", absolutely love it!)
