EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

sh*t-load of red thread-locker on it and I don't know that the solvent really helped any. In the end the rotary air gun still wouldn't move it until I was able to get it one full turn with a 3-foot breaker bar.
Please consider . . . I offer this for your perusal :
I used to break off big , SnapOn , Torx sockets on Mercedes hood hinge bolts until I FINALLY learned to heat them up before applying Torx .

Turns out it is paint from the factory , in the threads ; still a bit uncured when they assemble the vehicle (two pac paint = ~ epoxy).
(((this was over twenty years ago . Not sure what they are doing now)))
I was going to say : Might try heat but then thought no ; maybe it is a really old truck you use on one of your properties and it really is just rust .

Score for the 'bagger !
Sorry you had a hard time and I didn't shoot my mouth off .
People keep telling me to STFU so I was trying . 😞

Yeah . Parking in the street ; rookie mistake.

I ride the bike in town , only to get to work , but always assume one of two things , depending on my mood , one that the automobile I see has no driver and is just rolling along uncaptained orrrrrrr that the driver is an orangutan from outerspace . . . who has not familiarized them selves with the conveyance they have commandeered .

seriously :
Sorry for your loss ! ! !

Brother, if I made a video of driving to work, you guys would die laughing.

Mostly at how I refer to all the polite individuals around me! 😉

If I had some of those James Bond wheel slashing toys, my day would be brighter! Oh yeah, rocket launcher, machine guns... 😆

Also need my JB throwing dagger.

I've got a half-dozen Griptilians. All but one are full-sized and all but one have aftermarket scales, the 551-1 coming from BMK with open back construction, gray G10 scales and blue G10 outer liners. This one is the older gen 550 HG in 154CM which I re-fitted with Wilkins flamed Ti scales, later replacing those with these Wilkins Natural G11's and a matte gold anodized butt spacer with integral lanyard hole.

I had it with me when I finally got that stubborn bottom Torx-head bolt out of the sheared off tailgate pivot bracket. I let it sit for about 36 hours after soaking it from both sides with PBBlaster. As you can see below it had a sh*t-load of red thread-locker on it and I don't know that the solvent really helped any. In the end the rotary air gun still wouldn't move it until I was able to get it one full turn with a 3-foot breaker bar. SMH at knife makers that use that stuff in their pivots....

Looks like if you had to , to get energy to walk out , you could suck on it like a butter scotch . 🙂

Some storms and showers again today. Appreciate the moisture after a few very dry summers (and last winter was very dry) but my car is eternally a mess with 5 miles to the nearest paved road from my house.

And I hate those drivers who don't slow down when passing in other direction....on a dirt/gravel road!!

That's an interesting thought, Bagger, and you seem quite clear about your experience and what you found.

In my situation, the bolts and the bracket they held on were clearly installed before painting as they and the jamb they were mounted on were continuously painted in. There was no paint behind the bracket on the jamb and the bolts were threaded through an unpainted floating plate. What showed in my pic really looked to me like thread locker which I softened with acetone and wire-brushed away after removal.

It had occurred to me to use heat if I'd failed again to get that one bolt out. I am glad that I didn't shear anything off along the way. It is an old truck--2006 Ford F350--and was my primary work vehicle over the years, though it has fairly low mileage (73K) and is still quite roadworthy as I've kept it up mechanically. It ran great on our 560 mile round trip to Vermont plus probably another hundred while up there.

BTW, I got a tracking # on my replacement part and expect to have it in hand Monday.

Native chief LW dosen't seem to get much love on here. The clip dosen't land right in the center of the pad, blade centering isn't perfect, scales feel cheap. That said, might be the best slicing knife I own, and it sits so naturally in the hand it feels like I was born with it.

I have the magnacut LW and dig it. Will take to beach in a couple of weeks and cut bait and general carry. I have to take with as this was my “justification” for buying it (although several existing knives I own would have been more than sufficient)
