EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Glad to see you stuck around, not chased off by any minor contretemps. You might understand someone new expressing that he felt the prices charged for certain knives amounted to gaslighting could cause longstanding members who gladly pay for and own such blades to take offense.
Thank you for the explanation on posting pics, Chazzy. Much appreciated. I recently sent a message to management asking what level of membership I needed to be at to able to do so but had not received a response as of yet.

On the issue of being gas lit; apparently I expressed myself poorly. I was referring to those who maintain the higher price one might pay for a knife is legitimately explained when SOLELY attributed to the knife being “Made in America”.

I still maintain that a seller who does so is engaging in gas lighting and or “American Exceptionalism”, neither of which I support. I believe doing so only further supports the oligarchs and corrupt politicians in continuing to break it off in our collective keisters. Unless of course one is referring to the purchase of essential items, the production of which should never have been exported to the current extent in the first place but necessary in paying in order to assist in returning production to the States.

Sounds like you'll be making political knives?

Cool window ! (My wife does stained glass …).

Sweet! This is nowhere near as cool as that, just a film. We have this little nook at the back of our house near the sliding door for the deck. It's an old house so it's just an area that feels kinda cobbled on, some cabinets with a little counter, and a window that doesn't open and has no view other than the juniper hedge. Anyhow, for Mother's day the wifey asked me to turn it into a coffee bar. I took that as a green light and ran with it, built some shelves in the window and made it one of my projects that I go creatively buck-wild on, and this is the result ;)

Z Zootripper , I don't know that many of those American mid-tech makers, say in $400-600 range and up, typical of how this discussion began and that are popular with members here, even go so far as to attribute the higher cost of their knives to anything but the time, materials, and the level of hand work--fitting, assembly, tuning, etc--it takes to produce their knives. There's "proudly made in the USA", which is fine by me, but as far as any knife makers I support using that to SOLELY hype their fine products, I haven't seen it. I also don't think that CRK, RHK, Les George, Spartan or other mid-tech makers, as well as production knife makers like Spyderco or BMK are in league with any oligarchs or corrupt politicians to break anything off in our collective keisters.

However, it's me straying off topic here, as this discussion would be better had in a different thread, so here's another pic of my Spartan NW Coast that I carried today. Hope to see your knives here too going forward.

Interesting looking patina on the Spyderco. I assume it isn't natural, and if not, how did you get it?

I use a combo of mustard and apple cider vinegar, applied with a toothpick. Let it sit for 20-30 min, rinse, and repeat. It's really where the sperate applications overlay that you seem to get the cool blues and purples in my experience. Honestly my favorite method is just applying it in little dots, but I try different designs with each knife just to switch it up. I pretty much do it in one way or another to every knife I own that will take a patina well.

(EDIT: the main blade here is just a fruit patina)
