EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

I gave a little thought to what I might carry on my birthday today, figuring that it ought to be something kinda special. My Arius certainly fits the bill as it's something I'd wanted for a long time, but was determined not to pay retail at the least and certainly not over that, as many B or LNIB on the Exchange seemed to go for big bucks. I finally found the one last March, luckily just moments after its listing as a "user in good condition", for about 1/3 off with the just features I wanted--20CV burnished blade and patterned handle slabs with bronzed hardware. The handles had been walnut shell blasted which gives them a nice matte appearance and grippy texture. The edge had been touched up and the whole package was in excellent condition--even better than described. Definitely special!!

I can't handle that knife without thinking of another--my pre-Idaho large Sebenza 21 with Bocote inlays. This was my first large CRK and just blew me away when I first got it in totally LNIB condition--really just flawless. I could never bear to carry, use, and mark it up and it remains one of maybe three drawer queens in my overlarge accumulation and is the touchstone for my now 10 large plus 1 Mnandi CRK stable. It comes to mind as I almost traded it away for an Arius back in the Spring of 2018 while awaiting my hip replacement operation. My wife loves that Bocote 21 and when I told her of my plan and showed her a pic of the Arius she turned up her nose and said, "Just don't," so that was the end of that.

I've always been glad for that actually, as I know I would miss it, and now I have a nicer Arius than the one I would have traded for. So...I safely put the Sebenza in my new pants' cargo pocket in its original leather slip--the supplest, best-looking CRK slip of all 11 I have--clipped the Arius in the pocket above and had two special knives alongside on my special day, supposing that the more of those days I have (and there've been a lot of them) the more special they are.

Happy birthday, ChazzyP 😊

Spent the day trimming vines and redoing a garden bed.

The garden turned out alright. It's a little sad though. I had put Fake turf down. As it was Buddy's favorite place to lay and chew a bone, as he is no longer with us, turned back into a garden.

Leave a little square of turf on the end like 2' x. 2'. Instant memories!!!!!😉
