Gotta ask, what are you using to put those edges on?

palonej we have a new student. Ill start here with my set up. Joe told me to go to an 18° edge to make it more sexy. Hapstone R2 with shapton glass 1x6 stones. Let's see a picture of it. I'm curious.I'm a freehand sharpener (convex), but I am genuinely curious about the kind of edges you just showed, as well aspalonej 's because the shoulders seem to be unusually well blended for a fixed system... and I detest prominent shoulders.
I just received a laconico keen the other week and it was sharpened on a fixed system but the edge was shorter in height then your "more refined" example. I could feel them when I stropped and it was gross. 5 minutes on diamonds with a blended convex and it's already soo much better... but I'll bring it higher yet!
Is that .308 caliber?Morning.

Diamond. Full angle 36 degrees. First 20/14, then 14/10, then white Dialux on a leather backing. To remove any remaining burrs.Gotta ask, what are you using to put those edges on?

Slight learning curve, but pretty easy.

Very happy with it.
