wodysone, Same mark and maker. I got mine in 2015 and it has been in its sheath ever since and I have had no problems, like yours did. I know I am swimming against the tide her, but I have about 60 Puukkos and Leukus from Finland which all are in their sheaths and never a problem with any of them. I had some knives from the Philippines and no way would I keep the knife in their leather sheaths, which smelled pretty bad. Other than that I have only had some verdigris problems with a few US made knives/sheaths. I do not recommend anyone else leaving their knives in leather sheaths, just relating my experience.
