True. But as in the opening scenes narration of the of the letter in the movie Act of Valor reads; ".... He’d just say you gotta look harder. Look harder, your father would say....."Like public safety message for safe knife manipulation![]()
Gruyere is the king of cheeses imo. And has very high nutritional value - especially unheated. But that recipe is some incredible comfort food! Here you go:
"Swiss Aelpler Macaroni":
- pre-cook (a pound?) of pasta; macaroni, penne, or similar (hollow pasta to store the sauce better), the usual salt in water, etc.
- cube pre-cooked ham, quantity to your liking. Mix with pre-cooked pasta
- put pasta/ham in a pan in two layers: each layer cover with gruyere slices (about a pound? total); you can pick another cheese, like Appenzeller, Austrian Bergkaese, or similar. Not too oily/fat (no Emmentaler, for instance)
- add some garlic powder
- add about 1/2 - 1 quart of heavy whip crip
- put in oven, about half hour, 350 F
Voila ! Enjoy
Roland.
