EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

S(NO)w fun in Penn's Woods, near Hershey. My MIL (who gets up before the buttcrack of dawn) says it started around three this morning. We went out at ten for the first shovel session. Forecast says it's supposed to do more than four inches in eight hours. We'll see.

Tundra's been in my pocket since it arrived, except at work where it would be pointlessly large. I like dumb folders.

Bonus Bengal cat content. She's fascinated by the snow. I'm pretty sure she tasted it too, because, cats....

When you get old you will understand waking at the BCoD 🙃.
It started around 1:30 this morning in SE Michigan and is still going strong. Will get out around noon and then aaround 6 when it slows.
Yard carry is an beat up 152OT. It is too ugly for pics.
Everyone stay safe

You mean "old" in years?

Or in miles?

Because some days it feels like the odometer doesn't match the VIN.

I looked at the weather radar, and this storm looks to be covering 30% of the country!

Now that you talked about it, you gotta post pics! I for one love knives that have the scars to prove it!

What’s that knäf?

It was custom made, elmax blade, titanium liner and CF scales. I pestered him about buying the first folder, if he ever made any. When that day came... 😆

The guy that made it is John Gulso, he used to have a huge thread on arfcom, under his screen name Kuraki.

You can find him on FB and IG. Dude is a super talented machinist, that also makes knives and other toys. 🙂

I believe this one made the cover of Blade Magazine.

Mornin guys. Hope it's been a good weekend for ya'll. I'm a bit butthurt today because my Bailout broke one of it's Omega Springs yesterday. I just picked it up of the desk, flicked it out one or two times and snap. It still kind of functions with 1 spring, but that one would probably break within a few dozen cycles, so I just retired it until I can fix it. That's the second set of Omegas I've broke, my Bugout springs broke about a year and a half ago. Pretty sure it's still Benchmade policy that they have to be sent in in order to get new Omega springs, but I faintly, kinda remember hearing that they changed that policy. Not sure. I emailed them and we'll see. I replaced my Bugout springs with Pacific Sons Omega Springs, but they're quite a bit stiffer and I'd much rather have the OEM springs. If anyone knows of a source of springs with the same spring force as the OEMs, I'd love to hear it.

Both.

It is a big storm.

The previous owner broke the tip and tried to fix it. It works as a yard knife

That sucks. Hopefully the company stands behind their product and does right by you.

Thanks man. I know they'll fix it just fine if I send it in, but it's such a pain sending a knife in and also risking it not returning. I've actually had 3 BMs have failures these past 2 years. My Shootout is also down for the count in pieces right now. A little clip on the end of the main spring broke on that one twice. I sent it in one time, but it was so tough to get it back because I live in a state where autos are illegal. The dealer they listed on their website as being able to receive it after the service didn't accept the package when it came, so it went back to benchmade and we had to work something else out. Now the same part has broken. I tried asking them if we could do something different this time, but they said we have to stick to the rules. It's all good, just a pain in the butt. And if you buy a knife with Omega springs (from BM or any company), or an assisted knife, you got to just accept that there's a chance that the spring will break at some point. I've broken 2 Kershaw Speedsafe springs as well (in fact my G10 Leek has a broken spring right now), but Kershaw will just send you a baggie of a few springs and your back on the road! And my G10 Leek still functions with a broken spring.

Certainly a pain in a state where autos are illegal.
Crappy customer service on that dealer's part.
Hopefully it gets squared away quickly.

I'm carrying this one today. Our local snowfall went from dire predictions of up to eighteen inches of snow (that's dire for Oklahoma), to an actual six-and-a-half inches, proving once again that dire predictions of snow rarely ever pan out (well, except for those two blizzards a few years ago). So, in case I need to chip an igloo out of the ice or something ...
